Zirconium Cauldron: Cauldron Series, #5
()
About this ebook
Winged twins, Catherine and Connor Manchester, are the magical children of Penelope Manchester and St. Michael the Archangel. At the age of five, the Fairies prophesize that the twins' soul mates are also twins. Michael takes the twins to vanquish the demon Anti Anima Mate. This demon gains powers by killing one of a soul mate pair, while leaving the surviving mate to suffer tragic loss. But this demon escapes.
On Catherine's and Connor's 16th birthday, all Manchester Covens worldwide meet at Castle Garrison in Scotland to celebrate the coming of magical age for the first Manchester twins to be born in four hundred years. Starting with the Elders, each Manchester presents the twins with a gift. The most important gift was the Zirconium Cauldron. Resembling a giant, hollowed-out diamond, this cauldron can only be yielded by twins to amplify their already tremendous powers.
The magical twins meet their soul mates—Lilly and Grier Manchester Garrison. But before they can fulfill the prophecy, they must battle the demon Anti Anima Mate and the evil Chimera sorcerer, Gemini, who wishes to absorb their twin powers. Will fate prevail? Zirconium Cauldron is full of magical creatures, angels, demons, fairies, and even a dragon.

Prologue
S caredy-cat!
I’m not afraid.
Jason straightened his spine and held his head up high.
Then prove it.
Scott pointed to Manchester Mansion.
Are you sure that they’re not home?
Jason referred to the powerful coven of witches who occupied the scary old house in the Garden District of New Orleans.
I’m positive. They asked our family to feed their black cat, Sabbath. I even have the key.
Scott dangled the large, old-fashioned key.
What are we going to do in there?
Jason asked.
Scott shrugged. Just check things out. Maybe even find their spell books, potions and cauldrons.
Okay. I’ve got my camera. Otherwise, no one would believe that we dared to enter Manchester Mansion,
Jason said.
Scott placed the large key into the keyhole of the front door and turned it. The door opened, and he gestured for Jason to enter first.
The last of the twilight flitted away with the setting sun as the boys entered the dark mansion.
Do you think we’ll see any ghosts?
Jason’s lips quivered. He turned on his video camera to shield his face from his friend. He didn’t want Scott to see how terrified he was.
A long-haired, black cat greeted them, purring as he circled the boys’ legs. The feline’s tail, arched with curiosity, resembled a question mark.
We better feed Sabbath first.
Scott poured dry cat food into his Mickey Mouse food bowl and refreshed his water. Let’s start in here.
Scott pointed towards the formal parlor room just to the left of the foyer.
These portraits are amazing.
Jason aimed his video camera at the large portrait over the mantel.
That’s St. Michael the Archangel. He’s battling demons,
Scott said.
Is that what these witches do? Battle demons?
Jason asked with an incredulous tone.
Shrugging, Scott said, I guess so. Mom says that they’re good witches. In fact, Sabbath was a kitten born from one of our deceased cats, Raven. Mom swears that Sabbath must be thirty years old.
Is that old?
Jason asked.
For a cat, yes. Twenty is old, but thirty is unheard of,
Scott explianed.
Maybe cats really do have nine lives.
Jason shrugged. Is your cat pregnant again? Or is she just fat?
Oh, yeah, she’s about to pop out another litter. I’m sure my mom will ask the Manchesters if they want two kittens for the Manchester twins—Catherine and Connor,
Scott said.
Check out this portrait. It’s Penelope, Michael, and their twins. Is that? No, it can’t be. Michael and the twins have wings! And this Michael looks just like St. Michael the Archangel. Did a witch marry an angel and have baby angels?
Jason asked with an incredulous tone.
I guess so. Come on. Let’s check out the attic.
Scott waved his hand towards the mahogany, freestanding staircase dominating the foyer.
Hold on. I want to put my special erbium filter in the camera. It’ll help us see things better.
Jason placed the erbium filter into the camera, and the pair walked up three flights of stairs to the attic. They opened the door and shone their flashlights into the dark attic. A hexagon-shaped stained-glass window greeted them. In front of the window stood a podium. They walked over to the podium, and the Book of Spells lay open. Turning the pages, colorful pictures greeted them with handwritten words scribed in beautiful calligraphy.
Wow, they really are witches. This is so cool,
Jason said, mesmerized by the book.
The walls of the attic were lined with shelves full of potions, ingredients and books. Resting just beneath the shelves were several cauldrons. A copper one, two cobalt-blue ones and one that resembled a giant diamond with its center hollowed out.
Is that a diamond cauldron?
Jason asked.
Probably not. I’d guess it’s cubic zirconia,
Scott speculated.
Even still, I bet it’s worth a fortune.
Jason picked up the sparkling cauldron and placed it in his backpack.
What are you doing? Are you crazy? You can’t steal from these witches. They’ll put a curse on you and turn you into a frog or something.
Scott stomped his foot, punctuating his seriousness.
With a sigh, Jason placed the beautiful cauldron back on the shelf. Fine.
Sabbath joined them in the attic. He jumped up on the shelf and began hissing at a giant, glass jar. Defensively, the cat arched his back, turned sideways, fluffed his tail and hissed at the glass jar.
Scott pointed. What is he hissing at? The jar is empty except for that green water.
Jason peered through this video camera lens. Blinking, he took a step back. What the...?
What do you see?
Scott asked.
Mustering his bravery, Jason peered through the camera lens again. Reddish-orange forms appeared. Tiny demons with horns and hooves floated in the green water. It’s demons! The Manchester witches have miniature demons trapped in glass jars! Quick, let’s get out of here!
