About this ebook
Though it's a crisp and cool October in Timber Ridge, North Carolina, Eleanor Swift is warm and cozy in her scrumptious pizzeria, A Slice of Delight. But she feels a shiver when snooty Judson Sizemore blows into town to open a high-end rival featuring gourmet, wood-fired pies. And the rivalry takes a chilling turn when Judson is found murdered right before his grand opening—and right after making a scene at Eleanor’s eatery.
Now Eleanor and her saucy sister Maddy are the prime suspects. As Eleanor digs for clues to prove their innocence, she discovers that Judson had plenty more to hide than his secret sauce recipe. And as she gets closer to uncovering the real killer, life in Timber Ridge heats up like Maddy's five-alarm Volcano pie . . .
Includes a delicious pizza recipe!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love this series. The two sisters (Eleanor and Maddy) have a quirky sense of hiumor and they work well together. This book is a quick and fun read. Beware, you will be craving pizza by the time you finish the 2nd chapter! In this book, a new pizzaria is opening just a few feet from The Slice. When the owner is murdered on opening day, the two sisters decide to investigate.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5while I totally enjoyed this one, I'm not sure it was as good as the first two. mostly because it seemed like the same story as before. just with different suspects. now, I know it's a cozy mystery and isn't some master sleuthing book, but can't we have one where Eleanor isn't the first suspect the police think of first?
I really liked reading about the business aspects, the changing menu and all that, even though running a business isn't that simple. the developing relationship between Maddy and Bob isn't textbook too, which is nice. the constant reminders that Eleanor used to date police chief Kevin are getting annoying though. I do quite like mystery quasi mini mob boss Art. he's such a random character he keeps it interesting. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I finally finished and I liked the story but not the dialogue, and on top of that, I figured out who done it way before the disclosure; so to me the culprit was too obvious.I'm sure that there are people out there who would thoroughly embrace this book, such as the target audience, but I am not one.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoy the pizza series and the characters are pretty true to life. Eleanor and her sister Maddy get along, fight, and make-up, much like most real life sisters. Eleanor owns the pizza shop "A Slice of Delight" in a small town in North Carolina.
When a rival pizza shop is opened Eleanor starts worrying about being able to survive the competition. When the new owner is killed just hours before his grand opening Eleanor and Maddy both become "persons of interest", thus must start investigating to find out who actually killed Judson.
What follows is a complicated family plot that includes estranged brothers, a pair of unknown niece & nephew, and oh, is there a cousin in the mix?
Eleanor is a bit cavalier about her own safety sometimes but has a crowd of people watching out for her, including a shady character who she calls a friend but most people would call a gangster.
There is an interesting twist at the end but for some reason I wasn't surprised, I had suspected this person early on, oh well, it was still a fun ride and a fun read. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this book for its quick-summer-read feel and North Carolina setting. I had my suspicions about about the correct killer about 3/4 of the way through, but still it was a decent summer read!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I liked this book a lot to the point of giving it 5 stars precisely because it's more of the same. Eleanor Swift is yet again a suspect. She's the definite Usual Suspect. She most solve the case to survive and drag her business to survival. So she's more motivated than the usual pro super sleuth and it's worth reading how she uncovers her culprit or how the murderer feels the heat so much that he/she uncovers herself out of urgency. This is the book that made me see a pattern for guessing identities in this series. One of the books I'm most likely to re read.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I received this book from the Goodreads First Reads program. Overall I enjoyed reading this book. I have not read the other two books in this series, but after reading this, I would like to. The main character Eleanor, and her sister Maddie were likable.
The story did take me awhile to get into. But by the second half of the book, I was interested and wanted to learn more. The identity of the killer was a little too easy for me to guess. Usually I don't figure it out so early in the book. But it was still a fun book to read, and the setting of a pizza store was a new one for me.
