Somraj Pokras (Lake Tahoe, California) is an entrepreneur, published author, website designer, workshop leader, public speaker, and counsellor. He received an advanced certificate in interpersonal counseling in 1972 from the Advanced Organization of Copenhagen. Somraj entered the sexuality field in 1997 by studying with the internationally acclaimed sexologist Margot Anand. After graduating, he served as an instructor for her year-long Love And Ecstasy Training. Additionally, he completed Dr. Alberto Villoldo's Light Body School through which he received his certification as an energy healer. We—Jeffre and Somraj—are two mature, experienced professionals and a long-term married couple. Jeffre began her career as a PhD sex therapist twenty-five years ago when few other female psychologists practiced this specialty. Though trained as an organic chemist, Somraj spent thirty years as a Fortune 500 people-skills training consultant.

You’ll encounter a few special terms like jewels for genitals and jewel union for sexual intercourse. Instead of penis we prefer the Tantric term vajra. And we use the Sanskrit word yoni in the place of vulva and vagina.

You’ll also see us using interchangeable terms for different levels of arousal, turn-on, and excitement roughly arranged in order of intensity: sensation, pleasure, chemistry, erotic charge, sexual electricity, erection, passion, orgasm, and ecstasy.

Five Phases of Sexual Response

William H. Masters and Virginia E. Johnson pioneered research into the nature of human sexual response with their groundbreaking studies starting in 1957 at Washington University in St. Louis. They recorded some of the first laboratory data on sexual anatomy and physiology by direct observation of women and men making love in the laboratory.

Notably, Masters and Johnson clearly defined the four stages of the body’s response to physical stimulation: excitement (initial arousal), plateau (full arousal short of orgasm), orgasm, and resolution (post orgasm). They observed that most lovers' arousal levels out or plateaus after initial excitement. That causes them to push for more and more pleasure, resulting in an explosive orgasm.

Supernatural Sex follows a similar sequence of five phases:

1. Loveplay (part of excitement)

2. Initial Entry (part of excitement)

3. The Valley (the plateau)

4. Climbing (orgasm)

5. Closing (resolution)

We’ve broken the excitement stage into loveplay, or what most lovers call foreplay, and initial entry, or first penetration. This is because lovers who practice Supernatural Sex may revert to talking, touching, and oral sex (usually reserved for foreplay) anytime during coupling. And because initial entry is such a critical step in penetrative sex, especially for women.

We call Masters and Johnson’s plateau stage the Valley because it’s a safe, warm place where arousal levels out. It’s a place you want to stay and play in. A focus of Supernatural Sex is to extend the Valley as long as possible before climbing to orgasm in the fourth, or climbing, phase.

Their resolution stage refers mostly to physiology, so we’ve renamed it closing to identify loving and intimate things essential after lovemaking.

This Book’s Eight Parts

Tantric Pathways to Supernatural Sex is organized into eight parts, with a few chapters within each part.

PART 1, The Pathways, defines the overall journey and its foundations.

PART 2 is about Sweet Spots and Loveplay (phase 1). These chapters are about arousal, getting turned-on, and stimulating sweet spots, our name for erogenous zones.

PART 3 is Kundalini, the Eastern name for sexual and orgasmic energy. Here we introduce underappreciated methods of harnessing and channeling your dormant sexual lifeforce to give you access to a whole new universe of pleasure. You might call it sexual ecstasy.

PART 4 is entitled Penetration and Initial Entry (phase 2). Here we’ll dive into jewel union (sexual intercourse), including first penetration, sexual positions, anal penetration, and energetic healing.

PART 5 is about the Valley, which is phase 3. Here is the central focus of Supernatural Sex, namely extending your pleasure by creating stroking patterns that result in sweet rhythms. The chapter about balancing power is vital to create a partnership dedicated to lasting ecstasy.

PART 6 is Kundalini Currents. In these chapters we’ll show you how to direct the flows of kundalini by connecting hot links, opening passion circuits, connecting electrical circuits, merging energy fields, and exchanging orgasmic energy. These two parts about the Valley conclude with a vital chapter about peaking, or how to surf intense peaks of sexual pleasure.

PART 7 is about Climbing to orgasm, which is phase 4. Climbing begins when your peaks are so intense that you’re ready to go for it. We cover multiple ways to climax singly and together both physically and energetically. It concludes with climbing beyond the ordinary toward different kinds and higher levels of orgasms that we refer to as in orbit.

PART 8, Savoring the Closing (phase 5), is about how to enjoy the afterglow of the energy you’ve shared in an intimate and loving way.

After laying the foundations of Supernatural Sex in PART 1, PART 2 will give you a detailed review of a man’s twenty and a woman’s thirty erogenous zones or sweet spots. Starting in PART 3 we’ll show you how to find and excite them to release kundalini or sexual energy. In PART 4 and PART 5 we examine the mechanics, dynamics, and energetics of jewel union (sexual intercourse) like no other book does. PART 4 is about initial penetration and PART 5 addresses extending your pleasure in what we call the Valley.

PART 6 explains how to open your energy channels and flood yourself with passion. This includes hooking those channels up with your beloved. Then you can stay in the Valley as long as you want and transform your coupling into a continuous orgasmic flight.

It all comes together in PART 7, which covers the whole spectrum of both physical and Tantric energy orgasms. PART 8 deals with phase 5, which is the closing.

PART 1

The Pathways

PART 1 gives the helicopter view of the Tantric pathways to Supernatural Sex. We explain what that really means in Chapter 1. In Chapter 2, we give you an overview of sexual energy tools that come later. Then we’ll share how to build a solid platform for the whole journey in Chapter 3 using the Tantric attitude. Chapter 4 is about partnering.

Chapter 1

Supernatural Sex

Our pathway to Supernatural Sex really began when, in our fifties, we met at a spiritual sex workshop in 1996. The irresistible sexual chemistry that swept us away made our first encounters super exciting.

We thought we were pretty good at it. When we started practicing Tantra together, we discovered how much more there was. Now we know that Supernatural Sex doesn’t just happen. You have to grow it together.

In this chapter we will paint a picture of where this book is going. We hope you’ll use it to create a vision of the kind of sex life you want.

Ordinary Sex

To us, ordinary sex is a biological process ruled by lust and regulated by hormones. Quick release and fast orgasm are its goals. That’s where we started. It was great when we both got there on occasion but frustrating when we didn’t.

Ordinary sex can look like a movie scene where two strangers rip each other’s clothes off in a wild frenzy and do it on the floor or against the wall. More like a sport, the contestants rush toward maximum turn-on until exploding in a blaze of glory.

Or, with long-term partners, ordinary sex goes through the motions like nobody’s home. Or the guy with so much pent-up lust convinces his partner to do things she wouldn’t otherwise consent to.

Sure, sometimes ordinary sex feels good. But it usually amounts to quickies. Studies show that the average time for sex is five to ten minutes. Regardless of what she gets, most men roll over and fall asleep after coming. On the other hand, Supernatural Sex can last for hours if you want.

When we were first together, our ordinary sex usually resulted in an orgasm gap. That’s the well-documented fact that men come more often than women. On occasion, though, one or both of us reached a remarkable height of passion. At first, we didn’t understand how we got there. That didn’t allow us to repeat it at will.

We weren’t guiding each other so our pleasure was hit and miss. There was more nonstop jack-hammering and less regard for each other’s energy.

In short, we weren’t making love on multiple levels of body, heart, mind, and soul at the same time.

Tantra

Studying and practicing Tantra allowed us to transform ordinary sex into Supernatural Sex.

Tantra is an ancient Eastern spiritual philosophy based on the metaphysics of sexual energy. It teaches how to raise consciousness and harness the lifeforces inside that drive sexual desire and everything else. Because Tantric practices combine sexual and spiritual energy, it’s often referred to as spiritual sex or sacred sexuality.

The first Tantra teachings emerged in India some seven thousand years ago as a grassroots rebellion against the repressive hierarchical religions of the day. Tantra sprang up as a movement to make spiritual illumination and ascension available to all, not just to the privileged castes via a priest or shaman.

Early Tantra writings described practices, meditations, and secret rituals that prescribed a path to liberation and enlightenment. These esoteric Hindu texts were a dialogue between the archetypal male god Shiva and the archetypal female, his consort Shakti.

That’s a basic concept of Tantra that was later echoed by the psychoanalyst Carl Jung. We both have masculine and feminine energies within that need to be unified.

Tantra showed us how to accept and love all of who we are so we could open fully to our divine nature. That allowed us to experience more pleasure, bask in extended ecstasy, and regularly catapult each other to peaks higher than ever before.

The Kama Sutra and More

We often reference the Kama Sutra, the Hindu love manual that depicted the sexual customs of upper-class Indians about fifteen hundred years ago. That made it much different than the spiritual Tantric writings.

The Kama Sutra was totally forthright about things many people are too ashamed or embarrassed to talk about. Things like seduction, foreplay, jewel (genital) sizes, sex toys, aphrodisiacs, and sexual postures.
