Audrey Niffenegger trained as a visual artist at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and in 1991 received her MFA from Northwestern University’s Department of Art Theory and Practice. She has exhibited her artist’s books, prints, paintings drawings and comics at the Printworks Gallery in Chicago since 1987. In 2013, a retrospective of her work opened at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. Her first books, The Adventuress and The Three Incestuous Sisters, were printed and bound by hand, in editions of ten. She taught book arts for many years as an Associate Professor on Columbia College’s MFA programme and was a Professor of Creative Writing at Columbia College up until 2015. The Time Traveler’s Wife was her first novel and became an international bestseller. In 2009 it was made into a feature film. Audrey Niffenegger is married to the artist Eddie Campbell, with whom she produced her graphic novel, Bizarre Romance.
