About this ebook

Pastors and ministers have one of the most challenging jobs on earth. Of all their tasks, one responsibility they cannot neglect is teaching the word of God. Unfortunately, church leaders seldom have enough time to prepare Bible studies for their congregations. This book is a quick resource to help fill the gap. These thematically arranged Bible studies each contain an introduction to a topic and a list of relevant Scripture readings for that topic. Pastors can use the introduction to spark discussion within small groups or to focus on the specific themes during sermon writing. Many have stated that Volume 1 is a great resource, and it is my prayer that Volume 2 is a great resource as well. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, . . . teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matt 28:19-20).

Special thanks to my wife, Myrlene Davis for encouraging me to compile the Bible studies I have developed over the years and make them available to busy pastors and ministers. Also, I want to thank my brother James Davis, Jr for proofreading the text. Also, thanks to Wipf & Stock Publishers for accepting this second volume for publication.

    Introduction

We don’t have to look far to see that our land and the world are suffering from spiritual deprivation. Secularism and cultural relativism are so ubiquitous that it affects every institution of our society including the church. The fact that spirituality is pushed to the periphery of our society, we are beset by the increasing immoral toxicity that has gripped our nation. Today, rarely do people know about the golden rule of doing unto others as you would have them to do unto you. Our land is top heavy with all kinds of abominations, and as a result young people are dying sooner than they should; children are being abused and abducted; families are dysfunctional; government is divided, and it seems that our nation has become one gigantic unsafe pathological narcissistic society. Unless the nation is spiritually transformed America and the world may self destruct. Racism, narcissism, injustice, division, hatred, bitterness, and violence have such a hold on society, one can imagine what the future looks like should our nation remains on this trajectory. One thing is sure if the present society doesn’t turn to God and transform spiritually, the future holds more pain and sorrow. Our choices have consequences, and if we don’t choose light, justice, and holiness over darkness, injustice, and sinfulness, the world is doomed.

However, there is still hope for a dark and dying world. There is still hope for America. Centuries ago the prophet Ezekiel was asked, Can these bones live? Can Israel’s predicament be transformed? Can America and the nations of the world ever experience the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of mankind? Can the human situation burst forth with new life? Can blind eyed justice sit once again on the throne among people? The answer to these questions is a resounding yes! For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us ( 2 Corinthians 1:20.) The yes is in Christ, the Logos. We must feed upon the Word of God and digest it to be able to preach and teach the Word to the world. God
