About this ebook
Clock Dance: A Novel by Anne Tyler | Conversation Starters
Clock Dance, the latest book from author Anne Tyler, follows the life of Willa Drake. The story shows snapshots of her life, starting at age 11 with her mother walking out of her life. At the age of 21, Willa is proposed to by her college boyfriend, Derek. By age 41, Willa is a widow as a result of an accident. All of these events are defining moments in Willa's life that lead to her to the path she is now on at the age of 61. In the present time, Willa is living in Arizona when she receives a phone call from her son's ex-girlfriend, Denise, who has just been shot. Denise needs help taking care of her daughter. Willa wastes no time uprooting her life in Arizona to go be with Denise and her 9-year-old daughter, Cheryl.
Clock Dance is a “gorgeous gem,” according to Bustle. Chicago commends Anne Tyler for making ordinary people and events seem so intriguing. Finally, The Spectator says in their review that Clock Dance is “perfectly executed.”
