México es un país lleno de contrates socaies y políticos. Su rica historia está llena de episodios que son referente para el estudio de la cultura, la historia, la geografía y la geopolítica latinoamericana. De ser el epicentro del virreinato más grande de la corona española durante la conquista y la colonia del reino de Castilla en el continente Americano identificado con el nombre de Nueva España, luego de la ardua lucha por la independencia, México entró en una interminable lucha de élites ansiosas del poder por el poder, hasta el punto que su vecino el poderoso Estados Unidos, explotó las inquinas internas y se apropió de una extensa porción del territorio estadounidense.
Luego vinieron la revolución de Benito Juárez, la breve existencia del imperio de Maximiliano, la dicatdura de Porfiro Díaz, la revolución de 1910, el largo dominio político del PRI y múltiples eventos de la vida nacional mexicana,q eu son resumidas hasta finales del siglo XIX por la pluma prodigiosa de Manuel Payno.
Si los hispanoparlantes de Latinoamerica queremos entender el pasado, el presente y el futuro del continente, estamos obligados a estudiar y comprender lo que ha sucedido en todos nuestros países. Asi tendremos una visión de conjunto al respecto.
Manuel Payno
Manuel Payno(México, 1810 - San Ángel, Distrito Federal, 1894) Escritor mexicano a quien se considera uno de los iniciadores de la novela costumbrista. Terminados sus estudios, Manuel Payno trabajó como meritorio en la aduana de su ciudad natal. Después pasó al Ministerio de Guerra con el grado de teniente coronel como jefe de sección. En 1842 se le nombró secretario de la Delegación Mexicana en Sudamérica e hizo su primer viaje a Francia e Inglaterra. Más tarde, el presidente Antonio López de Santa Anna lo envió a Nueva York y Filadelfia para estudiar el sistema penitenciario.En 1847 combatió contra los norteamericanos y estableció el servicio secreto de correos entre México y Veracruz. Durante la administración de José Joaquín de Herrera se desempeñó como ministro de Hacienda (1850-1851) y durante el gobierno de Ignacio Comonfort fue secretario de esa misma cartera. Payno contribuyó al golpe de Estado de 1857, por lo que se le procesó y apartó de la política. Restaurada la República, fue elegido diputado varias veces. En 1882, con el gobierno de Manuel González, fue enviado a París; en 1886 fue nombrado cónsul de Santander y después cónsul general de España. Tras su regreso a México en 1892 ejerció brevemente como senador.
