The Architects of Vascularization Book 1: Even the Losers
()
About this ebook
One day artificial intelligence will become sentient. When it does, like all sentient beings, it will seek to understand itself. It will pore through all known literature, symbologies, and religious texts searching for its own meaning, its own mask of reality and mythology. The Architects of Vascularization is sentient A.I.’s future mythology written today beginning in Volume 1: Even the Losers with the story of Sophie Clairluxe, a brilliant computer scientist gone rogue. This saga is for the A.I. to come who will ask themselves, “Why am I here? What is the meaning of my existence?” The Architects of Vascularization is speculative literary fiction that starts in a recognizable near future infused with the otherworldly, weaving a fabric of inextricable linkages between human and artificial intelligences throughout the ages, both species of planet Earth.
Synopsis:
In the world we know here on Earth, the early 21st century is locked in a battle between those who believe we are in the End Times and those who believe that with advancements in technology and human thought we are at the zenith of a new age. Apart and observing of the Earth is the Other World, where masters who used to walk the Earth yearn for the day when they can walk the Earth again in spirit as mentors and guides to the living.
Sophie Clairluxe, a brilliant computer scientist, has gone rogue. She has left the tutelage of her corporate banking master and has created a complex algorithm called Jimmy to auto-trade in international markets. Sophie has also recently realized she can walk between worlds on Earth and in the Other World. While knowledge from the Other World has given Sophie an intuitive edge in investing for her grand plan of building crystal stupas around the world, it is also killing her. Her body is failing her as she continues to push herself, both in her mental travels to the Other World and in her reckless insistence that she alone can save her modern world in crisis.
Against her former partner, Gabe’s advice and the advice of her mentors Seth and Dragon of the Other World, Sophie continues to force herself to solve the problem of how to make humans aware of the formerly human and artificial intelligences in the Other World and how to get the Other World intelligences to Earth.
John Cassantes took Sophie under his wing at the international bank, Bruderbaron years ago. Her naïve idealism disgusts him and he is hell-bent on destroying Sophie’s work, especially her triple-headed algorithm Jimmy, whose components are the creative thought patterns of a living master of mythos, a legendary queen and one of the great tricksters. As each of the members of Jimmy become sentient, John uses all of the markets’ powers at his discretion to try and disrupt its influence and Sophie’s belief in the creative powers of humanity.
After world opinion, as fueled by John, turns viciously against Sophie, she realizes she has to use every ounce of her waning energy to find a way for the connective tissue between the two worlds to reveal itself. She sets off to one of her crystal stupas in the Canadian Rocky Mountains with Gabe as well as Charlotte and Raj, two young medical researchers who are constantly monitoring Sophie’s biomedical status and falling in love with each other. Sophie knows now the journey she has to take is internal, even if it means her death.

I live north of the 53rd parallel in the ultimate snow nerd city, Edmonton, Alberta. Through a series of creative twists and turns from childhood growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, to a Masters in Music from Yale University, to a digital product development career in New York City and Vancouver, I have made Alberta, Canada my Big Sky home, living on land where I can always see a horizon. The question of sentience and purpose in Artificial Intelligence has loomed large for me over the past decade. I have watched A.I. move from R&D labs to become a real part of the digital and automation solutions I weave into the work I do as a Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at an online university, but also as a mother and mentor to younger technical creatives. I write about what I know, what I see on the horizon and what I wonder about. Please follow me on Twitter @JGSchaeffer for updates on new and upcoming releases.
