End of the Tunnel - Andrew Yost
I communicate through words
Articulate my thoughts and emotions
Through a stanza or a sentence
Using symbols to represent
The problems I’m too scared to face
Wielding metaphors and similes
As weapons in my arsenal of communication
If I cannot speak freely
Then I will write
And I will make them understand
Exactly how I feel
With the touch of pen to paper
Connecting my jumbled thoughts
Into cohesive phrases
That I will use perfectly
To show you exactly
Who and what I am
What I crave
Is to carve my face into the memories of those around me
And mark my place in this world
I long to make a difference
And I am just dumb enough to try
With a bit of pain and a few words
I will try to reach a generation
And light a fire in their hearts that will burn down the world
They say the impossible is the interesting
So I will test that theory
On a mission to belong
No, not belong
To stand out among the crowd
To say the words others are too afraid to say
And to matter to this world
Being alone
In a world full of people
Fading in and out of life
Existence has no true meaning
If you do not feel as though you exist
Hushed words
That are a thousand miles away
Going insane
Trapped inside a frame
There is nowhere left to turn
No place
