One long, rainy day in summer when it was too wet to go out and play, Daisy lay on the floor of her grandparents’ house happily colouring in a picture of a Princess. Millie, her older cousin, was making herself some toy jewellery, while Timmy, Millie’s younger brother, read an adventure book.
I wish we could go on an adventure?
said Timmy.
Especially today,
said Millie. It’s boring being stuck indoors!
Daisy nodded her head in agreement.
Granddad was sitting on the sofa reading his newspaper, while their Nan was busy in the kitchen baking all sorts of things. Some, like her cakes and biscuits, smelled lovely. Others, like her boiled greens, didn’t!

said Millie, as she came and sat next to him.
It says here that a man found an old painting in his attic and sold it for quite a lot of money. He said he never knew it had been up there all those years?
Daisy’s eyes grew wide with excitement.
Shall we go and see what’s in your attic, Granddad? There might be loads of things up there that may be worth a lot of money?
Oh, yes!
said Timmy. Can we, Granddad?
No, I’m afraid my attic is full of old junk!
said Granddad, laughing. You wouldn’t get fifty pence for what’s up there!
The children went back to what they were doing but their heads were now full of thoughts about what may be lying in Granddads attic, just waiting to be discovered. After
