About this ebook

In this book, Mary explores the difference between spiritual wisdom that originates from Metaphysics and what originates from the Spirit level of reality_the Non-Dual_ a level of consciousness that is beyond the soul and beyond the subtle levels of reality. As she compares New Age philosophy with tenants of Gnostic Christianity, the question arises "What is evil, where does it come from, and how can we transform it?

The Wisdom Teachings Meet the New Age - Mary Bell

    information.

    Preface

The first thing I remember writing was a research paper in my senior year of high school. I really enjoyed it and felt a sense of accomplishment when I finished. I can do this I thought. My paper was selected to be sent into the Detroit Free Press for a writing contest they were conducting.

When I was getting my bachelors degree in Psychology, I was also required to write a research paper. I could choose my topic; I chose Wilhelm Reich, someone I was very interested in knowing more about. I was familiar with him and his Orgone energy theory through my studies in Bioenergetic Analysis, but wanted to know more about him personally and how he developed his life’s work. Once again, I learned a lot while I was researching my topic and enjoyed it thoroughly.

In my senior year at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, once again I was required to write a professional thesis paper. This time it was to present an original piece of healing work that I would develop and describe. I chose to write about the brain changes that occur with post traumatic shock and how to resolve the symptoms by balancing three structures within the brain with energy work. This was work that had evolved as I was working with a client in my private healing practice; I channeled the work and then described it as well as giving the scientific background explanation for the work. I felt a deep sense of satisfaction with it’s completion.

But I never thought of myself as a writer until I was completing the teaching of  a two year Mystery School, the Nirvana School of Enlightenment in 1998, when I received the guidance to write a book describing the work that I had channeled and taught. It was exciting and yet a little scary to receive this dictum. So scary in fact that it took several years to begin my writing project. Looking back, I realize that it would have been much easier to write if I had done it right away rather than procrastinating, because when I finally began to write, I had to look back and re-live many of the things that had happened. It would have been much easier to have described the work as it was unfolding. Many edits later, I published my first book in 2010, Kicking and Screaming to Enlightenment, a Journey to the Real Self.

Since then, writing has become a more normal part of my everyday life. I was published with the Association for Humanistic Psychology in their Perspectives Journal and have had other articles published in online magazines and periodicals. I also write regularly on Facebook, in my newsletters and on the blog on my website at foundationforunity.com. I really enjoy it now and probably the most important thing I have learned is to sit down immediently and compose as I am feeling inspired. That way I am most likely to accurately convey the message that is becoming conscious rather than try to revisit it later. Perhaps my reluctance to write my first book was not only related to beginning a new activity that was foreign to me, and that I was not accomplished at yet, but also because I had been afraid to step into my power and be seen as a writer and an accomplished healer.

I had a strong background in nursing and psychology when I began my study of Spiritual Healing. It was only looking back that I could see how each facet of my life had prepared me for that endeavor. I tended to study in three or four year increments_ a Registered Nursing Diploma, a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, four years of Professional Training in Bioenergetic Analysis, a form of Mind-Body Psychotherapy, and four years professional training at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. Even my additional training in Awakening Your Light Body as taught by Sanaya Roman and Dwayne Packer and teaching with the Healing Touch Program were four year projects.
