All her husband has to do is wrap up the shift at his job at a normal time. Cate doesn’t think that’s too much to ask for, but apparently it is. She tries not to let out a huff when she tells him no, but it comes out anyway.

She can’t quite put her finger on it, but Vic is charming and pushing her buttons in all the right ways. Maybe there’s a way to salvage the evening after all, but certainly not in the way she originally intended.
