About this ebook

Darkness has never been so thick, shadows have never been so real, and the Scarecrow has never seen the light of day. In a distant hut in the middle of the mist, there he lays, waiting for someone to hear his tale. The Scarecrow has remained in silence for a long time, but he is about to speak. Come and discover who he is in this bilingual book of poems.

Cucumerario Formido - Alan D.D.

    The Scarecrow

    Good evening, dear creator.

I am that you wish to forget,

A truth you will not enunciate.

    But far from feeling upset,

I must confess I feel content.

I’m a creature of your design,

The bastard child of an unstable mind,

Unborn desire of fear and disgrace,

Deny my name and forget my face.

Not everyone leaves such an impression,

Not every person leaves such a print,

    For that, I shall admit,

For that I dance and for that I sing.

    Sweet dreams, dear creator,

    It’s been a pleasure,

Not for you, but for me,

For anyone can be born, grow and sleep,

Everyone can live and everyone can die,

Yet only I, the man you hate,

The one of kind you still forget,

    Your ever lost effigy,

    Your imperfect, shining dream,

The defective mannequin that you deny.

    Your precious broken doll,

Am the one and only Scarecrow.

    Darkness raised me

    These shadows I walk in,

The only friends I have seen,

    These shadows I walk with,

    Give the only I’ve received.

If there’s any devil, any demon,

    I shall never fear,

For they all come from me,

And before me they all kneel.

    Darkness raised me,

    Made me what I’m now.

    Always there, always here,

    Healing all my flaws.

    Reborning

    Iwill come back,

    Rise among the dead,

    Rise from the grave,

    Eyes never closed again.

    I will come back,

    Wretch among the sublime,

Rise from the dirt and flames,

    Mouth not to be erased.

    I will come back,

    I’ll be remade from scratch.

    Angels dancing in my head

    Angels dancing in my head,

Angels will dance on my grave.

    I see the clock changing,

    A shapeshifter I can’t avoid,

I see the hours passing me by,

I am forced to be transformed.

    Angels dancing in my head,

Angels will dance on my grave.

    Eyes I cannot close,

    Images I can’t turn off.

    Need to disappear,

    Need to be released.

    Angels dancing in my head,

Angels will dance on my grave.

    The clock transforms,

    Eyes red like blood.

    Silent screams fill the air,

    As I walk within despair.

    Angels dancing in my head,

Angels will dance on my grave.

Silence, silence, needs to be reshaped,

Silence, silence, calling all the names,

Silence, silence, faces in the empty air,

Silence, silence, never in my bed,

    Angels dancing on my ears,

    Angels dancing on my fears,

    Angels dancing in my head,

    Angels will dance
