Lara Hazel LOVED hiking. Every day, she would drone on and on about the new things she learned about it. Either it was about bits of information she nicked from the library, or it would just be things her friends told her about hiking. She dressed up as mountains and climbers for Halloween, and had all her birthdays celebrated at different rock-climbing centers every year; and now that she was 11, she still wouldn’t let go of the subject.
Lara also had a few problems. The first was that although she knew so much about that one topic, she had never been on a real hiking trip before. This always made her really devastated when she got home from school each day, because it was the one thing she was an absolute expert on. "Mother, Father, please, I’m desperate!" she would say.
