Leonard DuMarques’ eyeglasses reflect the dancing flames. With the metal tongs, he pinches the red-hot firearm from atop the coals and lowers it into the tub of water. Sweat drips past the corner of his smile. He’s finally created something that works.

The gun is larger than a normal firearm. It weighs heavier in the hand, but with this one, your aim doesn’t have to be precise. One shot can set a forest on fire.

Leonard shifts his spectacles and smiles as he pulls the metal out of the water and watches steam roll off the wide barrel.

He senses someone behind him.

Looking slowly over his shoulder, he sees the housemaid, Millie, standing in the doorway. A beautiful middle-aged woman, her dark hair is uncharacteristically unkempt. A long curl covers her eye, a gun in her hand.
