Introducing The Perfect Mother
The Perfect Mother is non-fiction writer Aimee Molloy’s debut novel. It is a psychological thriller that tackles the themes of women and motherhood.
The May Mothers is a group composed of new mothers who gave birth to their first babies in the same month. The women are introduced to each other through the online community called The Village.
They meet twice a week at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. In one of their regular meetings, they decide to have a night out at the neighborhood bar to celebrate the Fourth of July. They make arrangements to have their babies be taken cared of by others in order to have a much-needed break and have fun at The Jolly Llama bar where they drink their favorite gin and tonics, beer, ice tea, and whiskey on the rocks. Winnie, a single mother, has a babysitter to look after her six-week-old baby Midas though she is apprehensive about leaving him. The other May Mothers convince her that he will be fine. But Midas disappears that night while the babysitter sleeps. Aghast at what happened, the May Mothers try to help the frantic Winnie recover her baby. As they go through the agony of finding the missing baby, secrets are unveiled, their marriages are subjected to stress, and their friendships are strained. Thirteen days pass by, and then an unexpected twist happens. The social media complicates the search, and
