This book is dedicated to the two fathers God has so graciously given to me!

I am forever grateful for my father, Staff Sgt. Thomas Richard Young, of the United States Marine Corps. My father served in World War II and the Korean War. Not only was he a powerful warrior for the United States, but he was also a mighty warrior for Jesus. I love you, Dad!

Facts About Your Life

Science can’t answer the three most important questions we have in life. Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where will we go when we die? Friend, it isn’t an accident that this book is in your hand. One day you are going to die, and so will I. Are you walking with God? Are you right with God? Have you asked his son, Jesus Christ, into your life? There is absolutely no way you, by yourself, can earn eternal life! The Bible clearly states in Romans 3:23, All have sinned. The Bible also clearly states in Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death. We will all die, and if we do not receive the gift of eternal life found only in Jesus, we have nothing to look forward to but physical death and then an eternity separated from God. There is, however, hope!

Prayer of Salvation

Having eternal life with God is not about a religion; it is not about a specific church, and it is certainly not about the efforts of man. Having eternal life is about a person, Jesus Christ. If you would like to receive Jesus Christ as Lord, he can save you, forgive you, heal you, love you, and most importantly, give you eternal life. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. If you would like to receive eternal life, would you pray this prayer?

Lord Jesus, right now, I call on your name. I ask you to be the Lord of my life. I ask you to forgive me for all of my sins. I confess with my mouth and I believe in my heart that you died on the cross and rose from the grave. I receive your love and your salvation.

Introduction

I am so glad you are holding this book in your hand. To every first responder, thank you for your service! As a first responder, God has used you and your hands to bless and protect so many people. If you are reading this book, just know I have prayed for you. I have prayed that God would use this book to bless, empower, and encourage you and every first responder to live a life filled with the power, purpose, and love for God.

The goal of this book is not for people to spend 30 seconds with God and stop. No, quite the contrary. Statistics show that an overwhelming majority of Christians do not spend daily time with God. Oftentimes, spending daily time with God is referred to as a quiet time or devotional time. The key to believers having blessed lives, forming healthy relationships, and becoming all that God wants them to be simply rests in spending time with God!

The purpose of this book is to get every reader spending daily time with God. Thirty seconds a day with God is not the finish line; it is the starting line. Listen to this scripture from Psalm 34:8, Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. My goal is for readers of this book to taste and see that the Lord is good and want more of him.

I believe if you will start spending 30 seconds with God daily for an entire year, then the goodness of God will overwhelm you. The more time you spend with God, the more you will want to meet with Him on a regular basis. I believe 30 seconds with God can turn into a daily, intimate meeting between a loving heavenly Father and his child. I believe that daily intimate meetings will turn into a life full of God’s promises fulfilled and amazing adventures lived.

God has amazing plans for your life! God wants to do more in your life than you can imagine. In John 10:10 Jesus said, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. The only way to have abundant life is to spend daily time with the author of life. God loves you, and so do I. Be blessed!

JANUARY 1ST

James 4:7 —Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Have you ever noticed how people sometimes misquote this verse? Often, people say the key to spiritual victory is resisting the devil. However, this statement is incorrect! If we want real supernatural power and authority, we have to first submit to God and then resist the devil. Many times, our culture suffers from a submission problem. We have to submit to God first and foremost. None of us have true power to resist the devil until we have first submitted our days, lives, and dreams to God.

RESPONDER’S REFLECTION: If you want God to do amazing things in your life, it is directly tied into your ability to submit to him.

JANUARY 2ND

James 1:22 —Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Do you want everything God wants you to have? Do you want to live each day in the supernatural power of God? If you want everything God wants you to have, you need to do everything God wants you to do! God does not save us until we call out to him. God does not forgive us until we repent and ask for his forgiveness. If we want to see the Lord do amazing and mighty things in our lives, there is a price to pay.

RESPONDER’S REFLECTION: If you want everything God wants you to have, you need to do everything God wants you to do.

JANUARY 3RD

Ephesians 1:19-20 —His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.

God has given you all the power you need to change your world and the lives of those around you. Everything you need is in you! According to this verse, the power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power at work in those whose faith is in Jesus! What more do you need? God wants to use you to do mighty exploits. Do not wait until you get further understanding, better training, or take that class before you believe God for big things. God wants to use you right now. You have everything you need to change the world. If your faith is in Jesus, the power of his resurrection is in you!

RESPONDER’S REFLECTION: If the devil is not able to convince you to give up on your dream, then he will simply try to get you to postpone it. Tap into God’s power to fulfill that dream!

JANUARY 4TH

2 Corinthians 9:10 —Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

The expression bloom where you are planted offers some of the greatest advice I have ever heard. Sometimes we can have so much regret about the past that we let go of the future. On the other hand, if we are not careful, we can let the worries of tomorrow steal today. Friend, God wants you focused on today. Be excited about where you are at now. Live life in the present. Wherever God has you, bloom where you are planted.

RESPONDER’S REFLECTION: Reflect on this great quote from Bil Keane, Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.

JANUARY 5TH

Proverbs 30:32 —If you play the fool and exalt yourself, or if you plan evil, clap your hand over your mouth!

Sadly, I can relate to this verse because at times, I have played the fool and exalted myself. I have a feeling if you are honest with yourself, you could probably say the same thing.
