These concepts captivate the imagination and help kids understand important truths in a language they can understand. What's more is both kids and adults who read to them will enjoy these informative and colorful books. The books are especially good for kids between 5 and 11 years of age. This particular volume in the series shows how God uses 25 Earthly Creatures to help explain foundational spiritual truths. As we look at common things around the house, we see God teach us his wisdom. The three other books in this series are about Parts of the Human Body, Things Around the House, and Things in Nature.

Each of the four books in the series contain Teachable Truths and the Take Home Points to explain the proverb(s) in more detail. There are Other Key Verses from the Bible to reinforce the point of the proverb. Many of these verses of scripture serve as great memory verses!

The Conclusion at the end of each topic reinforces the main point of the Proverb to make memorable teaching. The four books in the Proverbs for Kids series are easy to navigate with enlarged pictures that accompany the associated Proverbs.
The Proverbs for Kids book series coupled with the time you invest reading to your kids or grandchildren will engrain Biblical wisdom they can draw on for the rest of their lives!

God is the greatest storyteller, and throughout the Bible he uses creative and inspiring ways to help us learn Biblical truths. He often uses the "things of this world" such as clouds, the sun, oceans, darkness, deserts, light, the wind, water, earthly creatures, parts of the human body, and everyday things around the house (to name a few!) to teach us eternal truths. In the Old Testament, God teaches us his timeless wisdom from the Book of Proverbs. In the New Testament, Jesus tells numerous stories, called parables, to help teach deep spiritual lessons. He uses common concepts such as farming, money, fig trees, soil, doors, and fishing to teach important life lessons.

The practical teachings contained in Proverbs were inspired by God and given to mankind over 2,000 years ago. The book was written around 920 B.C., primarily by King Solomon. According to the Bible, he was the wisest man who has ever lived. While 920 B.C. was a long time ago, his teaching principles still hold true for today!

Animals

Many farm animals are in this photo. Can you name them?

Teachable Truths:

There are over 66,000 different types of vertebrate animals in the world. What is a vertebrae animal? Vertebrae animals like cows, pigs, oxen, dogs, horses, cats, and sheep have a bony spine down their back. Ants, bees, spiders, and snails are examples of invertebrates. They don’t have a spine. The number of invertebrate creatures in the world is well over one million! Invertebrate animals outnumber vertebrae animals by 20 to 1. The animals in the above picture are typical of God’s many animal creations. Typically, on a farm, we will see roosters, chickens, pigs, dogs, goats, cows, horses, sheep, bulls, and even turkeys. All farm animals have a special function. Sheep supply wool. Cows and goats supply milk. Horses and oxen pull carts. Pigs supply their meat. Chickens lay eggs. Roosters wake the farmers up early in the morning at dawn!

Verse to review:

Proverbs 12:10 A righteous person cares for the needs of the animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

Take Home Points:

God is not only concerned for the lilies (a beautiful flower) of the field (Read Matthew 6:28,) but also God cares about how animals are treated. They should be treated in a kind way.  Notice how the camels were nicely cared for in Genesis 24:18-19, 31-32. God calls that being righteous. For example, one of the reasons God chose Rebekah for Isaac’s bride was because of her tender care for her family’s camels. (Read Genesis 24:14, 19.) Also, read 2 Thessalonians 3:13 for more insight into this proverb.

The opposite of a righteous person is a wicked person. It is often hard for a wicked person to be kind to people or animals. Be on the watch for them and if you can, help them to be more kind to animals and people.

There are all sorts of animals besides farm animals; many that are in the wild, like whales or tigers. Learn to be kind to them. If you have pets like cats, dogs, hamsters, or gerbels at home, make sure that they are treated well, too!

Other Key Verses:

Matthew 6:28: And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

Genesis 24:18-19, 31-32: This is the story of when Isaac first met Rebekah. Take a drink, my lord, Rebekah said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave Isaac a drink. After she had given him a drink, she said, I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have finished drinking. Come, you who are blessed by the Lord, he said. Why are you standing out here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels. So the man went to the house, and the camels were unloaded. Straw and fodder were brought for the camels, and water for him and his men to wash their feet."

2 Thessalonians 3:13: Never be tired in doing what is right.

Conclusion: Learn to be kind to animals. Learn to do what is right.

Ant

Though tiny, an ant is a very hard-working creature

Teachable Truths:

There are more than 12,000 types of ants in the world! They are extremely tiny creatures but they can lift 20 times their body weight. The muscles of an ant have a greater cross-sectional area relative to their body size compared to larger animals. If a third grader was as strong as an ant, they would be able to pick up a car! Due to their small size, ants don’t have the room to have a breathing system such as ours. Instead, they have their own ways of breathing to help move oxygen around their bodies. Ants use vibrations from the ground to hear, because they don’t have ears. Ants have two stomachs. One of their stomachs is for holding food for their own consumption, and the other is to hold food that will be shared with other ants. Ants always work in teams, and often form a single file when they march. Fire ants can sting you. Watch out for
