About this ebook
In the Christian world-view today, God is greatly adored and glorified, so too is Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. But not so much is said of the Holy Spirit. It seems He is ‘forgotten.’ This book “Holy Spirit the Forgotten God” gives a classical revelation of the Holy Spirit who though is somewhat forgotten in the world, today, but He is the God who is in charge of this era, known as ‘the Era of the Holy Spirit.’ Scripture affirms the fact that Jesus had promised not to leave us as orphans (when the time of his departure had come), that he would ask the father and He would give us another helper who would take his place. This book, however, gives a complete exposition of; the etymology of the Holy Spirit; His origin; who the Holy Spirit is; symbols of the Holy Spirit; His Titles; teachings of the Church about Him; the role he played in creation; His many functions in our lives; the Holy Spirit and the Church; why Christians need Him in our time; how the Old and New Testaments view Him; His many gifts; how He may be received now and many more expositions that will blow your mind. This book is a must-have for anyone who wants to encounter the ultimate power in the whole wide world.

CHAPTER ONE
GENERAL INTRODUCTION
God the Father is reasonably known and so is the Son, Jesus Christ. But when it comes to the Holy Spirit, many persons may find themselves struggling to understand who He is as well as His role in our world. In ignorance, some persons even refer to Him as an it
or just not referred to at all. He is sometimes the forgotten or easily dismissable member of the Godhead, but this should not be the case.
The Holy Spirit, who is symbolized by a dove in the Sacred Scriptures and most often as a white dove in most paintings and arts, is one among the Holy Trinity and He holds great importance in Christianity. He is a protector, a guide, a light that shows Christians the right path to follow. According to Sacred Scriptures, the Holy Spirit played an essential and inevitable part during Christ's ministry on Earth―which could be seen right from the time when Virgin Mary conceived Him (Jesus) through the grace of the Holy Spirit according to the Gospel of Luke, to the time He breathed his last on the cross. The presence of the Holy Spirit and His power were manifest even beyond the resurrection of Jesus and up to this present time, which some persons have reckoned as the ‘Era of the Holy Spirit.’
Pope Francis while reflecting on the work and power of the Holy Spirit notes that we live in an age somewhat skeptical of truth. According to him, Benedict XVI has spoken many times of relativism, that is, the tendency to believe that nothing is definitive, and think that the truth is given by consent or by what we want. He goes on to say; here I am reminded of the question of the Roman procurator Pontius Pilate when Jesus reveals the profound meaning of his mission: What is truth?
(Jn. 18:37-38). Pilate does not understand that the
Truth is in front of him, he cannot see in Jesus the face of the truth, which is the face of God yet, Jesus is just that Truth, which, in the fullness of time, became flesh
(Jn. 1:1.14), came among us so that we may know it.
You cannot hold the truth as if it were an object; instead, you encounter it. It is not a possession, is an encounter with a Person. But who helps us recognize that Jesus is the
Word of truth, the only begotten Son of God the Father? St. Paul teaches that no one can say,
Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit
(1 Cor. 12:3). It is the Holy Spirit, the gift of the Risen Christ that helps us recognize the Truth. Jesus calls him the Paraclete
, meaning the one who comes to our aid,
which is by our side to support us in this journey of knowledge, and at the Last Supper, Jesus assures his disciples that the Holy Spirit will teach them all things, reminding them of his words (cf. Jn. 14:26)
The whole Christian life is about being renewed or transformed from the inside to the outside (embracing the totality of the human person) into a divinized, glorified human being who participate correctly in precisely the same glorified human life being made manifest in Jesus Christ since he resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven.
This life is made possible by the SANCTIFYING GIFTS of the Holy Spirit. The Sanctifying gifts are the gifts we receive for oneself which has the enabling graces to make such a person into another Christ. That is, qualifying him or her as it were to participate in the life of the Blessed Trinity fully. Thereby, by such we share in the grace that makes us in our small ways, sons, and daughters of God, filled with the Holy Spirit and conformed more and more to the life of Jesus.
While the CHARISMATIC GIFTS, in contrast, are the gifts the Holy Spirit give to Christians to put them on the line to help others. By implication, they are given, not to build oneself up, but so that he or she who receives any of them might build up others and renew the face of the earth. It suffices to say that such gifts reflect nature (nothing in nature is made for itself but the other) and demonstrate one of the core facts of the spiritual life: that the one chosen is chosen for the sake of the ones not chosen. For instance, the person who receives the gift of healing receives it
