Mack stood in the middle of the square and waited patiently for his date to show up. The square was the most crowded place in the prison city known as Sector C, and the safest, at least during the day. And it has become sort of the touristy spot of the sector, the place where humans and cyborgs from other sectors came to visit most often when they wanted to meet with cyborg prisoners. So Mack felt that no matter who his date was, the square would be the place that anyone would know how to easily find.
The square was known as the drain
, mostly for the big fountain that once stood in the square’s center, which now was marked by the only thing left from the fountain — a small circular pool outlined by a low red brick fence with the fountain’s drain in the middle of it. Occasionally the pool would collect rain and the red rusty water would get stuck in it for days until it would evaporate. But the main reason the square was called the drain

As he scanned the moving crowd for his date, his rigid hands carefully held a rusty metallic rose behind his back, hiding it from the light. The hot afternoon sun burned viciously over the square but Mack stood still, solemnly waiting, even though he was almost melting by the fountain’s fence. He hoped the sun would go down faster and hide behind the ruins outlining the square, but at the same time, he wanted the day to be longer, because as soon as darkness would set in, he knew there was no chance that his date
