After fully recovering from a savage grizzly attack—sexy werelion, Troy Xanadu, travels back to his pride to claim his beloved.
When his mother, Mara, Queen of the Red Fire Pride, hands him the letter that's been waiting for him for many months; he can't believe the words written on the page. Heartbroken—he leaves the pride and goes into the depths of the Magic Forest to train in the Cave of the Ancient Rippers—a society sworn to protect the Seven Realms.
Troy accepts a suicide mission—leaving before he completes his training. On the hunt for escaped convict, Dengar Leelo, he travels to the planet Xexloria—land of the scorching silver moon.

I’LL GET IT!
SOPHIE Carson called out as she briskly walked to the door. Hello, Jill, come on in,
she smiled.
Hi, Sophie.
Jill Jagger handed her a decorated bakery box filled with a bevy of Red-Velvet Cupcakes. They were sprinkled with red sugar crystals atop generous heaps of whipped sour cream icing. Jill owned the Magic Bakery on main street.
Mmmmmmm. They look scrumptious!
Sophie exclaimed.
I brought enough for everyone—they’re his favorite. Is Sir Gorgeous up yet?
Jill mused as she peeked down the hallway hoping to get a glimpse.
Sophie almost rolled her eyes. But even she had to admit—he was drop-dead gorgeous. Since he was due to leave soon to return to his Red Fire Pride on the far side of the Magic Forest, she was sure just about every female in town would show up to bid him farewell.
I heard him moving about early this morning. I’m sure he’s up. Let’s take these into the kitchen, and I’ll let him know you’re here bearing gifts,
she laughed.
Sophie, married over a hundred years to Charles Carson—a powerful half vampire—half warlock, had been spending quite a bit of time seeing after their houseguest—Troy Xanadu. As had the rest of her family including Charles, her daughter, Tory Drayton, and Charles’ mother, Nonny, and Nonny’s sister, Topper. They’d all spent plenty of time blending their powerful spells to bring Troy from the brink of death. It had taken months of magic and medicine to help him heal. Even The Fates had chipped in to lend a hand.
Almost eight month’s ago, Sophie’s young twin grandsons had been playing in the Magic Forest that day when they came upon Troy and his brother—Chaz Xanadu, laying near a creek bed. Both Troy and Chaz had been wounded and were in need of help. Troy was unconscious and near death.
Chaz had explained to the Drayton twins that he and his brother had travelled from the opposite side of the forest—heading to the Ancient Cave of the Rippers—an order sworn to protect the Seven Realms. On their way to the cave—Troy had been viciously attacked by a grizzly. And the huge bear had swatted Chaz away when he had come to his brother’s aide that fateful day.
As Troy stood his six foot three inch taunt frame in front of the large window—gazing out at the blue sky and the gorgeous Magic, New Mexico Mountains, he had two things on his mind—saying goodbye and saying hello. It would be hard to say goodbye to his new friends in Magic, but he also looked forward to seeing his beloved—Helen Remington again and he missed his mother, Mara.
Troy and Helen had grown up together. They’d pledged themselves to one another when they were teenagers.
When Troy and Chaz Xanadu were recruited to start their training—they were both eager to honor both their father’s legacy and that of their Pride. Only descendants of those who have fought for the order were allowed in. The society was designed to protect the galaxy by ripping the black souls out of the hearts of evil men.
Chaz and Troy knew they had an important destiny to fulfill—even though it would mean they would have to venture far away from their Pride. That part of their destiny hit Troy the hardest because he’d have to be separated from his beloved Helen.
She had watched him challenge his brother, his cousins and even other werelions from other prides. He’d always won—often smacking his opponents noses down into the red dirt. He had always been the strongest. But Troy knew the one werelion who was his equal in strength was his brother, Chaz Xanadu.
But because Chaz knew how much Troy loved Helen—he’d always let Troy win whenever she was watching. Troy thought about how Chaz had saved his life by attacking the grizzly. Then he’d refused to leave Troy’s side.
He was happy to see his brother marry his beautiful sister-in-law—Fawna Zanobia. Chaz had met her on his first Ripper mission. His brother hadn’t fallen in love with any of the women of the Red Fire Pride—he’d had no childhood sweetheart.
Troy couldn’t imagine not having one. He and Helen were best friends in grade school. And her emerald eyes had hypnotized him almost as soon as he’d gone through puberty. He loved her thick, auburn mane. He day-dreamed about how he and Helen used to sit at the bottom of a huge cottonwood tree in the Magic Forest and she’d let him run his fingers through her hair. And when she shifted into her lion form—unlike him and most of the pride who sported golden manes— her mane was a blaze of crimson—the most unique of the Pride.
Other males of the Red Fire Pride had duly challenged him to try and win her heart—but he’d always prevailed.
The soft knock on the bedroom door took his mind away from his day-dreams.
Hello, Troy,
said Sophie when he opened the door.
Good morning, Sophie. How are you?
I’m fine,
she told him. But I’m afraid the flies will be swooning around you all day,
she chuckled. Jill Jagger is waiting to wish you safe travels. She’s in the dining room and she brought you your favorite—Red Velvet Cupcakes. I just had one. They’re delightful.
Troy flashed a grand piano of a smile at her.
I can’t wait. Those are my favorite. Lead the way, my lady.
He followed Sophie to the dining room.
Hi Jill,
he said as he strode into the kitchen and gave her a friendly hug. Thanks for cupcakes—they look delicious. I’m so glad you remembered; they’re my favorite. But I can only have one if you ladies will join me.
I’d love to,
said Jill.
One’s usually my limit, but I don’t mind if I have another. One won’t kill my waistline.
She snickered. Troy grabbed the box and let Jill and Sophie each pick one. He grinned and grabbed one for himself. They all sat in the dining room laughing and talking. For the next couple of days up until the party—that’s how it was.
Chapter Two
AS THE PARTY STARTED for Troy—he helped Sophie and Charles greet the guests who’d come to say farewell. He sported the cowboy hat his friend, Oscar the giant, had dropped off the day before when he’d RSVP’d. Each time he greeted a guest, Troy would tip his hat and smile. He had his attractive locks pulled into a pony tail and sported jeans and black cowboy boots.
What’s up, Oscar?
Troy said to
