About this ebook

Argia was strange, and she admitted it. It didn’t mean she couldn’t love, or hope to enjoy the small moments in her life that collided with the most handsome athlete on the high school football team. She desired to be normal, and accepted that it would never be. Argia faked it pretty good, or pretended to. Until the day Micah uncovered her secrets and saved her soul. Argia just had to lose everything she cared about to see the strength he’d uncovered within her. Part of the PURGATORY REIGN Series: PURGATORY RIEGN, DEVIANT STORM, COLLIDING SOULS, FIERCE TIDES.

LM Preston

LM. Preston was born and raised in Washington, DC. An avid reader, she loved to create poetry and short-stories as a young girl. With a thirst for knowledge she attended college at Bowie State University, and worked in the IT field as a Techie and Educator for over sixteen years. She started writing science fiction under the encouragement of her husband who was a Sci-Fi buff and her four kids. Her first published novel, Explorer X - Alpha was the beginning of her obsessive desire to write and create stories of young people who overcome unbelievable odds. She loves to write while on the porch watching her kids play or when she is traveling, which is another passion that encouraged her writing.

For my children and my husband, who helped me dream the impossible and gave me the support to achieve it. Thank you God for my overactive imagination. To my readers who keep challenging me to create more stores. To Ednah Walters who was a dear friend and author who inspired me to write this story. My daughter, who specifically requested Argia have her own story.

    Chapter One

My new obsession was watching vlogs, following vlogs and commenting on them. Specifically, the ones produced by the popular elite of the dump town we landed into over a year ago. The umpteenth city my parents moved me to in the last four years since we left my two siblings with various relatives along the way. I knew why my parents kept me with them. I was the ‘different’ one. The creeper of the bunch. The kid, my former kindergarten teacher called everything short of a demon spawn. Which I wasn’t, but she didn’t understand.

I sighed away thoughts of my life before I got to this town, and fiddled with my mouse while feeding my new diversion. Vlog hopping, was the only thing that I could do to distract me from the voices and the moving objects that taunted me whenever I tried to relax. I leaned back in my adjustable desk chair and clicked through the recent post on Nona and her best friend, Callie’s weekly blog. I was waiting to see if they were going to drop the name and picture of the newest hottie of the week.

Even though I tried to be patient while the new vlog was posted, I couldn’t help but click back several weeks to the picture of my own personal dream hottie, Micah Waters.

There, his picture took over my screen and I leaned forward in my chair to trace the outline of his strong chin and the one dimple on his left cheek. All that handsome beauty framed his chocolate skin, with high cheekbones and black, wavy short hair.

I gulped. My fingers rubbed against my thumb as a butterflies trembled up from the pit of my stomach to my heart. I never wanted anyone like I wanted him. This was stupid of me I know, but I just couldn’t help it. The other guys that were interviewed and displayed for girls to drool over weekly, had nothing on Micah’s calm spirit and easy smile. I’d overheard some of the girls on the track team say he had ‘swag’, but I think he had more. Micah seemed to ooze the ability to hypnotize girls with his deep searching eyes, and his relaxed stance. Being in his ‘space’, even if it was in the far corner of a room he was in, gave me a peace within as if I’d just been hugged by the softest teddy bear.

Micah looked nothing like the people we’ve seen before moving here. None of the towns or states we’d traveled had been very diverse in cultures and races until we’d moved to this town in Newport. His differences were a stark contrast with my features. The only part of our appearance that was similar was our slanted eyes. Mine were so dark they were almost black against my pale skin. Micah’s were a rich and dark amber color that was most apparent when he was in daylight. His eyes stood out on his handsome face and seemed to search deep within anyone’s soul that he met.
