Chapter 1

Pippa sighed as she tossed her phone somewhere among the folds of fabric on her unmade bed. She disappeared into the adjacent bathroom. Now that Charlie, her older brother, had moved out last month, there were no more battles to be had over who got to use the bathroom first.

Umber eyes stared back at her in the mirror from under matching lashes. On ridding herself of her pajamas, Pippa allowed her gaze to peruse what showed in the reflection. Her hands cupped her breasts, testing the weight of them in her palms before lifting them an inch or so higher. Her nipples pebbled at both the attention and cool air sweeping in from her ajar bedroom door.

She ignored it, moving her hands to slide down the vertical slope of her abdomen before bringing her hands to her hips. She wondered if their width was proportionate to the rest of her body. Sometimes she wished they were smaller. She yearned for the almost willowy grace many of the girls in her senior year carried themselves with.

Though the occasional jog around the neighborhood kept her in shape, Pippa knew she could stand to lose a few extra pounds if she wanted to look anything like those girls.

Despite her scrutiny, she accepted the fact that she was far from the average Jane. She was confident in her own beauty. The way her freckles peppered across her nose, the spots only a shade darker than her beige skin, made for a striking match with her greenish speckled golden stare. She rolled her lips between her teeth as she gave her bare body one more glance.

Her shower was cut short by the shrill ring of her phone coming from her opened bedroom. A billow of steam followed as she made her way back to her room, skin still damp and a towel hanging loosely about her torso.

The incessant ringing stopped before she could locate the phone to answer and she assumed the caller to be Garrett. After all, they had agreed to meet this evening for Pippa to help him finalize his packing. But if his dallying ways were anything to go on, then she could safely assume she would come across an empty suitcase, and the night before their cruise no less.

But the caller was not Garrett.
