About this ebook

The #1 New York Times bestselling series returns with Mitch Rapp racing to prevent Russia’s gravely ill leader from starting a full-scale war with NATO.

When Russian president Maxim Krupin discovers that he has inoperable brain cancer, he’s determined to cling to power. His first task is to kill or imprison any of his countrymen who can threaten him. Soon, though, his illness becomes serious enough to require a more dramatic diversion – war with the West.

Upon learning of Krupin’s condition, CIA director Irene Kennedy understands that the US is facing an opponent who has nothing to lose. The only way to avoid a confrontation that could leave millions dead is to send Mitch Rapp to Russia under impossibly dangerous orders. With the Kremlin’s entire security apparatus hunting him, he must find and kill a man many have deemed the most powerful in the world.

Success means averting a war that could consume all of Europe. But if his mission is discovered, Rapp will plunge Russia and America into a conflict that neither will survive.

Typical Vince Flynn use of Matt Rapp in getting into and out of impossible situations with vast geopolitical importance. Rapp books make for good recreational reading but they aren't going many things very far. In this case, poor little Latvia is cheese and Russia, as always, it the rat. The unique aspect is the Russian leader is very, very sick and thinks he can hold power by overwhelming everyone else. Oh, yes, a disgraced mega killer general is drawn out of retirement to provide the face.

Seriously, Mills must be Flynn reincarnated. Great story, Rapp has not lost his appeal.

Red War is the 17th book in the Mitch Rapp series and the 4th by Kyle Mills since he took over the Mitch Rapp helm on Flynn's death. It's another solid entry in the series and continues the Rapp-Azarov-Colemon-Krupin story line, in this installment Maxim Krupin has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor and has decided that in order to maintain his tenuous grip over the Russian state he needs to stage a diversion to drum up nationalistic fervour whilst he undergoes treatment. Unfortunately for the surrounding Baltic states that diversion takes place in the form of a planned invasion of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Enter Rapp & Co and the CIA who with the help of Grisha Azarov attempt to identify the reasons behind Maxim Krumpin's erratic behaviour and deal with it's outcomes. There's plenty of action and gun play as is common place in these thrillers and the pace and way the story unfolds throughout is good.
