Hey Granny...look at that hill; it’s covered in mist!
shouted Lily. She had just arrived in Hong Kong with her younger brother ,Oscar, to visit their grandparents and they were excitedly looking out of the huge window. It was all so different from home in England. Granny and Grandpa lived in a high-rise apartment, which overlooked the beautiful bay at Stanley and the sea was sparkling in the morning sunshine. It looked wonderful. Little fishing boats dotted the bay and there were many windsurfers darting across the water, but her gaze wandered back to the hill. The mist intrigued Lily. She knew they always had good adventures with Granny Jan and she couldn’t wait to get the first one in Hong Kong underway.
Granny Jan came out of the kitchen and put some toast, fruit and juice on the table. That hill’s called the Dragon’s Back. Perhaps we can have lunch in Shek O after the hike.
The children wolfed down their toast and juice and Oscar asked if he could take his banana with him. In truth, they were so excited that they just wanted to get out as quickly as possible. They stood by the door in anticipation whilst Granny insisted on preparing her backpack with sun screen, water bottles, snacks and waterproofs, just in case!
At last they climbed into the car. Oscar was amazed when Granny asked him to press a button; there was a whirring sound and suddenly the top of the car was disappearing. Lily felt herself shudder as goose bumps appeared on her arms. The adventure had started already and they hadn’t even set
