Texas Sun - Marsha Bain
Chapter 1
Luther woke to the sound of ocean waves cresting against the rented beach house. Carrie slept soundly; he noticed every detail on her beautiful face. In a gentle caress he wove his fingers through her hair; then found her beast. Carrie waking to his touch rolled over allowing him access to all her charms. Luther murmured, how much he loved her.
The morning started off perfect, and then having breakfast in bed, they discussed what to do on their honeymoon. It was a beautiful morning, Carrie noticed, she walked to the deck looking at Galveston Bay. Luther thought, she looked exquisite with the way her night gown curled around her, exposing parts of her long legs; then covering them. Her thick hair flowing freely to her waist glistened. Carrie never realizing what she did to him laughed; as a dolphin slashed, telling him to watch.
Luther really enjoying the time away from everyone, wrapped her in his arms giving her another kiss. They made it back to the bed, then Carrie getting on top let him rest, as she started moving in a natural rhythm. Luther now ready to have some fun, held his wife’s hand, as they picked up seashells. Carrie laughing, smiled, as she pointed to the crabs; standing up against the sand holes nestled in the rocks. Luther watched, as a new wave would rock them, making them pinch their claws in the air.
Luther appreciated the vacation. He worked so many year’s, just making money. Carrie always loved the ocean. She told him stories’ about her and Mason spending summer’s down here with her grandma. I made the best sand castles. Mason always liked to chase me with the treasures he picked up roaming the beach. Luther having the best time of his life, told his wife, Someday we will bring our children here so they can play. Carrie laughed, already knowing she wanted boy and girl. Luther reached out touching her belly; I don’t feel one yet! Carrie stopping, looked up at her husband pulling his face to her’s for a kiss. She whispered,
I guess we will have to keep trying. Luther agreed,
I’m ready now."
They continued to walk on the beach noticing all sorts of debris drifting ashore. Luther pointed at a ship. Carrie looking in the direction he indicated noticed how gracefully it cut through the waves. Luther wouldn’t it be nice to be sitting on the deck of that ship? Yes, indeed it would be nice! A quaint food shack came in sight. It was so neat, thatched roof huts, over hanging a pier. Carrie wanting a drink, pulled her husband in that direction. The restaurant was native to a rainforest setting, very primitive, yet beautifully decorated with tropical plants, and bamboo. Carrie, ordering a pineapple drink, looked at the menu, asking if he wanted to share an appetizer platter. They sit on the pier for hours watching seagull’s pelicans, ducks, cranes, and one albatross.
Let’s go back to the beach house. Carrie broke in to a run, looking over her shoulder; she shouted, If I get there first you have to give me a bubble bath.
Luther slowing up, decided he would just let her win. Carrie bursting through the doors, waited for her husband. Luther said, I guess it’s bath time!
Scooping her up he covered her in kisses, depositing her on the bed. Luther worked his charm starting by kissing her on the lips, then along her ear, running his tongue along the pulse point in her neck. Luther’s touched her gently; sending waves of passion through her body, she shook as he touched her nipple. Carrie whispered, "I am on fire, your lips are leaving trails of lightening. Luther gripped in the throes of passion, moved his hand between her thighs parting them ever so slightly thrusting forward, as she wiggled in delight. Carrie pulling him down for another kiss, wrapped her fingers in his hair encouraging him not to stop. Luther murmuring incoherently groaned not knowing how much longer he could last; Luther lost in her called her name repeatedly.
The honeymoon was over; both mutually not wanting it to end, they packed their bags heading back to their home. The railroad was quite an experience; it was so nice riding threw the country. Carrie enjoyed the scenery. Carrie leaning against her husband fell asleep as they traveled home. It was evening when they arrived.
Luther taking his wife by the hand said, Welcome to our new life!
Carrie woke up seeing a large amount of construction left to complete on the home. Carrie with the help of Morning Dew, and her mother decorated the log walls. Morning Dew so helpful with sewing and crafts created lots of pretty rugs, blankets, and pottery. Carrie’s home was large for the two of them. Carrie wanted a baby so bad. Morning Dew being her best friend was over constantly, they worked together with their mother’s making beautiful finery.
Carrie asked if a relationship was developing between her and Mason. Morning Dew not wanting to discuss the amount of time she spent with Mason evaded the conversation. The women were working on a beautiful bear skin preserving it. The large skin rug would look nicely in front of the fireplace. Carrie learning so much from the Indian women, lifted a bear paw, complete with claws; the fur, black, shiny, and soft.
Morning Dew told Carrie about her old life, how men would go on hunting trips, while the women stayed at home finding roots, making pots, and drying food for winter meals. Morning Dew always loved working in the Trading Camps, where the white men bought the wares. The Indian braves very different then the white man.
Wise One talked about everything she experienced in life. Wise One knew with gut instinct that her daughter’s life was about to change. Wise One experienced a pang across her chest knowing she would soon be joining her ancestors. Her journey on this earth was about to come to an end. Wise One talking to her spirit on a nightly basis now once again called on it to protect Morning Dew; when she was called home. The other women in the room had no inclination to what she was thinking.
Mason picking that moment came into the room asking where Luther took off to? Carrie scolding her brother said, You should know if you were over here helping him build fencelike you should be.
Mason looked at her saying, it’s not my house he should appreciate all the help I do give him. Mason stomped out of the room, letting his sister complain more; she was so grouchy lately. Luther deep in thought hammered the fence post deep in the ground. Mason picked up the post hole digger, making more holes. Luther laughed, when Mason told him what Carrie said. Luther chuckled,
She is bored."
Luther, I am a lot of things but bored, I am not!
Luther, I want to officially date Morning Dew, but I know nobody will approve of it. I am a wealthy white man, and Morning Dew; your family’s Indian servant. Luther said, What’s on your mind Mason?
Mason asked him, how did you know I am troubled? Luther answered, I’ve known you my whole life!
I want to date her in public, as a relationship. Luther said, I figured that; are you really serious as a relationship?
Yes, I care for her a lot! I did rom the first day I saw her.
Luther asked him, are you prepared to break tradition, by mixing into a different crowd? The people in town will cause quite a raucous, are you prepared to take a stand? I guess so; I will be a dad soon. Luther shocked said, What?
Morning Dew is with child. Yes, she told me the other day. I know she should be, remembering the afternoons down by the lake. Mason grimaced, a secret happens when she gets in his arms. He knew better but knocked her up anyway. Luther shocked asked how long has this been going on? Brother, from the time I first got back from San Antonio.
Luther, well what are you going to do? I don’t know yet? I haven’t figured it out yet. What does Morning Dew want to do? Will she even marry you? Yes, she would but what about the family? How could you let yourself get so carried away?
