la%20foto%201.tifDuring the first decades of XVIII century, the King George I was reigning in the United Kingdom. He with his wife, the Queen Irene, fathered a beautiful princess christened Danielle.
At this time, England and Spain had colonized almost the total of the American territory and, with a purpose of repossess the wealth that belonged to the native people, were bringing African slaves and making them work in inhumane conditions.
In America, considered by the colonists one of the most important of their conquests, were making their appearance some attempts of reaching the independence, and the King George I sent his brother, the Duque Charles, to obtain precise information about the ongoing events, to instruct the governor, and to reestablish the peace and the order in this territory.
The young Princess Danielle, who at this time was twelve years old, professed so a great admiration to her uncle that, notified about the future expedition across the sea, begged her parents’ permission for follow the Duque. The King and the Queen, perfectly aware of the dangers of such a travel, from the severe weather to the unstable conditions at the colony itself, reasons more than enough to fear the possible risk for the safety of their beloved daughter, refused to allow it.
But the refuse of their majesties did not stop the Princess from insisting on her whimsical decision of follow her uncle the Duque. So, once she knew the day and the hour of the departure, the young girl started to
