Ruzanna Topchyan
Ruzanna Topchyan is an educator. Literature has always had a very special place in her life. Since 2002, she has been a member to the Armenian Writers’ Union. While being an avid reader, she translated British and American literature into Armenian. These translations have been published in the Armenian journal Youth and newspapers that would publish literary work. For years, she also translated British and American humor for the Armenian Radio Program, and wrote scripts for the Armenian TV literary program. Later, she started writing her own short stories and children’s fables. Some of these short stories have been published in Armenia as individual pieces. Children’s fables have been published in three books in Armenian: The Dream of the Bear, The Goose Quack-Quack, and The Stolen Time (Christmas fable).

The Little Bear Who Wanted to Play the Cello
When the bear cub grew up a little, he said: Mummy, I want to play the cello. Please, find a cello for me.
Mother Bear did not know what to think. Sunny,
said Mother Bear, who has ever seen a bear playing the cello? Everyone will laugh at you!
Let them laugh if they want. I must play the cello,
insisted the cub.
Mother Bear became quite concerned. She thought to herself, Hmm! What a problem! What does my son want? I have never seen a bear playing the cello. Other little bears never expressed such a desire. Other little bears would run and play naughty games. They would run to the water to catch fish. None of them has ever uttered a word about a cello, but my son is quite different. He either wanders in the woods by himself or, hearing a bird sing or a cricket play music, leaves everything and runs in the direction of the sound to listen for hours.
Mother Bear was not quite sure whether that was good or bad, especially because at those instances the bear cub would say, What a melody. I must definitely play the cello.
Because Mother Bear never saw a bear playing the cello, she decided not to pay any attention to her son’s request. Meanwhile, the little bear would wander in the forest daydreaming about nothing but playing the cello. One night he had a strange dream. In
