About this ebook

This book is the first of a series of fables that the author is aiming to publish. Some of the fables have been read to schoolchildren, who found them interesting. The author hopes that more children will get interested in these fables and will appreciate the freedom that the fable, as a genre, can provide to the imagination. The author encourages readers to use their imagination and to create their own fables.

We are surrounded by fables. We just need to have closer look at life to identify the themes. You can create a fable yourself. Give it a try! - Ruzanna Topchyan

Let them laugh if they want. I must play the cello, insisted the cub.

Mother Bear became quite concerned. She thought to herself, Hmm! What a problem! What does my son want? I have never seen a bear playing the cello. Other little bears never expressed such a desire. Other little bears would run and play naughty games. They would run to the water to catch fish. None of them has ever uttered a word about a cello, but my son is quite different. He either wanders in the woods by himself or, hearing a bird sing or a cricket play music, leaves everything and runs in the direction of the sound to listen for hours. Mother Bear was not quite sure whether that was good or bad, especially because at those instances the bear cub would say, What a melody. I must definitely play the cello.

Because Mother Bear never saw a bear playing the cello, she decided not to pay any attention to her son’s request. Meanwhile, the little bear would wander in the forest daydreaming about nothing but playing the cello. One night he had a strange dream. In
