Jackie Hanson
Jackie Hanson came from a small town in North Central Iowa. She contracted polio at the age of 5. Because of this, she couldn’t do sports, so her love of music began. She played and sang in several local bands before going “On the Road” at the age of 19 with “Ted Hanson and the Country Express” out of Nashville, Tn. The music took her all over the Midwest and West where she eventually ended up in Alaska for 10 years. While in Alaska she married Ted Hanson. Jackie’s love of photography grew even greater while there, as she had a natural canvas with the beautiful landscapes, wild animals and birds. Jackie and Ted moved to Dallas Texas and spent 9 years there. Living there fueled her artistic thirst and in 1994 she and Ted moved to Angel Fire New Mexico. They started a goal to write for children in a positive way so the children could picture their dreams and escape to a place that was adventurous and happy. In 1995 Colorado called to them and they are still there. This is Jackie’s first of many planned books with her husband. She is a published photographer. Her deep love of animals, children, music, and photography come through on the pages of the books. We hope it will inspire all that read this book. We hope you like it…. Ted Hanson grew up in central Washington near the Columbia River on a “Soft Fruit Farm”. After high school he learned to play the guitar while in college. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller, which took him across the country and up to Greenland. He has two children and 3 grandchildren. After he got out of the service, he put a music group together and toured the country from coast to coast for 10 years. He met Jackie in 1975 and hired her into his band and the rest is history. Ted has many talents besides writing. He is a saddle and boot maker and has been doing leather work for over 50 years. He has a project at present to make a saddle for handicapped riders so they can enjoy some of the beauty in the mountains and be able to experience the wonderful spirit of the horse. A lot of us take that for granted. He was inspired to do so, as Jackie can’t ride anymore with out a special saddle. His love of entertainment grew over the years. In 1994 Ted partnered with someone to make non violent children’s cartoons. Although the project never completed it was the start of this book. Ted lives in Colorado with Jackie, 2 dogs, 2 horses and lots of outdoor wildlife. He feels he is truly blessed to have the wonderful animals that he has and be able to live in the beautiful country he calls home. He loves to paint pictures so the children can laugh, dream and go on adventures with him on the pages he writes.
