About this ebook

The Avacks are pushed back, and their city, Carthage, is sacked and under the control of the most powerful force in earths history, the Visigoths. There seems to be no hope for the Avacks, whose pride and courage are essential to their way of life. Their only hope is in their determined leader, Avander, whose faith and stamina lead his people through the darkest and most foreboding time in their history.

Cruel and unethical in their way of dealing, the Visigoths are led by their ruthless mastermind, Rickrage, who determines within himself to crush the Avackians in one swift military blow. His men are ready, and he sneaks his spies in every direction to bring down his enemy faster than he anticipates. But there is one problem for Rickrage; he underestimates the Avacks pride and love for freedom, which they would defend to the utmost.

But as the Avacks prepare once more to rise to the occasion, they are sabotaged by hidden forces, known as the Relentless Four, who they are completely unaware of until it is almost too late. To make matters worse, one of their own in the court of the king is a lethal member of the Relentless Four, and he is divulging top-security information to the barbaric Visigoths. His love for money drives him to the point of selling his own race for gain, and his punishment at the end is severe.

Read how two nations battle for the upper hand. Will the Avacks prevail and gain back Carthage, or will the Visigoths stamp them off the face of the earth?

    Act 1

    Scene 1

    TIME: A.D. 1156.

SETTING: At the doctor’s office. One examining table is in the center of the stage. At the right end of the examining table is a small table next to it, creating an L shape, attached to the other table. Far behind the examining table, against the back wall, is a cabinet with medicines, bandages, and splints. In the corner on the left-hand side of the stage, positioned in a diagonal fashion, the doctor’s desk stands, having a candle on it, a fountain pen in the inkwell, some paper sprawled out, and an anatomy book.

(Dr. Hash, Edmund, and Woodjet Barns enter right carrying Avander Milton on their shoulders and place him on the examining table.)

(Avander’s leg is injured badly, and he groans often.)

Edmund: Dr. Hash, we have to move quickly. What are we going to do to ease this terrible pain? He is bleeding profusely.

Dr. Hash: I will get to that son. I will get to that. Just calm down; I will have everything under control.

Woodjet (takes off Avander’s shoes and throws them in the back of him; nerdy tone): Doctor, what are we going to do about this wound? It is a serious one.

Avander (groans more when shoes are taken off): Ouch! Aaaah! Woodjet!

Dr. Hash (looks at Woodjet): Woodjet, what on earth are you doing?!

Woodjet: Just taking off Avander’s shoes, Doctor. This is exactly what I learned from you.

Dr. Hash (approaches Woodjet, raising his finger toward his face): Woodjet, you are not supposed to do such a thing, and I did not teach you such an idiotic—

Woodjet (eyes bulge out, and he interrupts): But, Doctor, this helps keep the patient cool and minimizes the pain. All doctors do this. (Points to the doc.) I am surprise you don’t know that, Doc.

    (Edmund looks at Woodjet strangely.)

Dr. Hash: There is no such thing, Woodjet Barns! Now leave Avander alone. It is an order. Now!

Woodjet (jerks back): Yes, Doc. (Glances at the desk.) Hmmmm!

(Dr. Hash goes to his cabinet looking for a splint and a cloth.)

(Woodjet sprints to the desk, sits down clumsily, and begins drawing Dr. Hash with an ugly, fat face, big eyes, and a long beard.)

Edmund (pityingly): Everything we will be all right, Commander. Don’t worry. Dr. Hash will stop the pain soon, and you will be able to be pain free. You will be running in no time.

Avander (trying to bear the pain): I sure hope so. I never experienced such pain like this in all my life.

Amanda (enters left, fanning herself with her feather fan): Hi, Daddy. In here is hot as usual.

Dr. Hash: Hi, sweetie. What brings you here?

    Amanda: Just checking on you.

Dr. Hash (searching the cabinet): Ah! There you are; finally found you. (Walks back to Avander with the splints, a long piece of cloth, a wooden spoon, and a liquid painkiller.) Avander, my boy, I am going to have to make you sit up for a while.

Avander (trying to bear the pain): Whatever you say, Doc, but I am in some severe pain. I got hit pretty badly by Rickrage’s sword.

Dr. Hash: Rickrage? Who is Rickrage? Is that the Visigoths’ leader?

Avander: Yes, Doc. The one that has no mercy on no one, not even with his own wife.

Dr. Hash: Sounds like a pretty ruthless fellow.

Avander: You can say that again. If I don’t do something quick, Doc, he and his forces are going to overtake us, and we will become his personal slaves.

Dr. Hash: Oh, gosh, I hope that don’t happen. I know you will come up with something to stop that ruthless monster. But for now, I need for you to rest so you can therefore think about defeating your enemy later.

Avander: Okay, Doc. But just for now. That monster can’t be left to live or else the fate of the Avacks will come to an end before you can blink your next eye.

Amanda (looks at the drawing): Woodjet, that is not my
