    Preface

To Travel Lite, Pt.1 is the depiction of one woman’s personal triumph and genuine struggle to not lose her mind; identity; or family.

It is the explosive; mystifying account; of a non-conformist. Baring the scars of battle; fueled with a borrowed determination and a naïve—ignorance. Until the day she comes to the realization that her plight is not an issue of race; academics; locality; nor of sexism, but rather of courage and… destiny.

Residing in a densely; over-populated; drug-infested; street-corner prostitution; urban neighborhood; where the birds refused to sing; even the grass chose to remain . . . underground!!

Surrounded by mix-matched morals and intellectual assassins; with its incessant presence and devouring prowl. It is here—in this modern day (Moab) that she is challenged to confront her own issues of reality. Poetry, again, would be her confidante and protégé.

To Travel Lite, Pt.1 has been described as a poetic compilation, but in fact, it is more than that. It guides you through a haunting—true life, growth period—one demanding great (self) introspection. Although impressions are quite vivid, it magnifies and refines the writer’s ability to cleverly express her creative—genre.

    Introduction

    Greetings,

During the final phases and completion of this book as in many cases, yet to my surprise; my (love-life) took a major dive from the steepest and most jagged bluffs—I’d imagined!

Therefore, most of what you will read in: To Travel Lite, Pt.1 is the true account of my survival and personal . . . triumph!

Although painful, I, consider myself very fortunate. In fact—privileged to re-discover a love that will never fade; be withdrawn; lost or stolen; nor manipulating with seducing; emotional; bribes by the pulling in; only to be pushed awayAGAIN! In plain talk, it bears—no expiration date!

My children and I reside in Northeast Ohio, on the outskirts of the overactive hustle and bustle city life. The country-like atmosphere and peacefulness does something wonderful for my spirit—it allows me to think. Here… my spirit opens to nature’s invitation—to breathe.

I decided to return to writing upon the confrontation and return of a genetic, chronic and debilitating illness that reappeared on the scene eagerly and abruptly!

Disregarding my need for even a snippet of compassion and understanding to explain the purpose for this constant pain—and now in the midst of it all… !

I must request: a momentary intermission—to educate my sons on how to strategically and effectively protect themselves—during their daily walk to and from school! Constantly being harassed and threatened—from the "rooftop trade-market!!" Like hawks circling; seeking early recruitment and for their street creds—union! The most harrowing incidents were with the daily loitering—of unusual and of varying unidentifiable breeds! Emotionally, maimed and branded by the mixed levels of previous owner—abuse!

    YES . . . ! I’m most certainly describing the infamous bully . . . "hood-dogs!"

I stumbled in my thinking—which in turn affected my motor skills. Therefore to battle the lingering, mental—shadows. I unintentionally, began to write… to myself. Initially, just writing a few—simple daily reminders to aid my memory, and in the hope . . . to not forget the stuff—good decisions are made of.

"Merciful, God . . . let there be light!"

I, have learned: that life will sometimes take turns that even the best driver can miss. I am a witness to this truth. In fact, during adolescence I deserted my creative ability for what I thought to be the true reality—I would later discover how wrong I was! As we know with defiance—(ALWAYS) results in—consequences!
