    Chapter One

T his story started back in 1950, it’s about a young girl, her name is Alice Thompson, she was thirteen years old at the time, and very attractive for her age, she was brought up in a small Mid-western town, called Hope. Her parents were church going people, and her mother Clara, belong to the P.T.A, at the school, and her father Bob, was the local butcher, that was till he got sick, and in this small town, everyone knew each other by their first name. At school her grades were all A’s, and she was on the honor roll, she also was top in her class, she had her life pretty much in order. She wanted to go to College one day, after she graduated from High School.

This school had a baseball team; it was the only sport that the school had.

And they played some of the other schools in the area; they were not a very large school. On the baseball team, was a young man, his name was Richard Green, he was one of the baseball pitchers on the team, and somewhat of a star, in this small town, and he was fourteen years old. And he thought that he was every woman’s dream, for a lot of the girls in school chased after him.

Alice was a pretty girl, but she was only interested in her studies, boys were not part of her life, as of yet. She had seen Richard in the ice cream parlor a number of times, when she would be in there doing her homework, before she went home. In there she had seen some of the girls chasing after him, and some of his friends. And she wondered what this attraction was; that those girls had for the boys, what was it all about. To her they were just boys, who used dirty words, and some times they would laugh at the some of the girls, that they felt were either too fat, or too skinny, and they called them names. And they made some nasty remarks to the ones, that they thought were not attractive, and they went about playing dirty tricks on some of the people, who sometimes got hurt over those tricks.

Richard had seen her in there a number of times, and he saw that she didn’t look his way, it was kind of a surprise to him, that she didn’t pay any attention to him.

Once in a while, when he was in the ice cream parlor, he would look for her, and when she was not there, it bothered him a little. Even when the other girl’s were falling all over him, maybe it was because she didn’t pay any attention to him that bothered him.

Richard was one grade ahead of her in school, and they didn’t run into each other except at lunch time or in the ice cream parlor, and usually Alice would have her nose in a book. Richard always had his friends hanging around him, sometimes there were four or five boys at a time, and he was always the center of attraction, he was their leader, and most of the boys did as he told them to do. Some of the boys who hung out with him most of the time, were John Peterson, Tom Cook, William Thomas, and Eugene Carey, these five all played ball on the team, and when one went some place, the other’s would follow. Tom Green—Richard’s father was the local sheriff, and he was a short, fat and a very angry fellow most of the time, and very few wanted to argue with him, for they would end up in the jail, till the judge would let them out.

Most of the people in that town, wanted the next election to come around soon as possible, so they could vote him out of office (that’s what they thought).

George Peterson—John’s father was a small town lawyer, who had grown up with Mr. Green, from the time that they were kids going to school, and his father was the Judge at that time. Al (Albert) Cook—Tom’s father was the town banker, and his father had been the banker before him. Gene Thomas—William (Bill)’s father, ran the local bar, and some people knew that he had a whorehouse some place, that his father had left it to him, and he was the one that got the sheriff, and the judge elected to office. Bob Carey—Eugene’s father, was the Judge, and his father was a Lawyer.

All of these men ran together, when they were young, and they did something’s that they wouldn’t want their parents to find out about them, and some times their parents found out. For when they were young, they were stealing from some of the stores in the town, and they had raped a young girl, not only one, there had been a few more, but they only went to court over the one.

Mr. Cook’s father was the banker at the time, and he paid off the other girl’s families.

But one girl’s father wouldn’t put up with it.

He told Mr. Cook to stick it, him and his money, for your son and the others, are going to jail, for raping my daughter, your not going to get away with it this time.

Then the girl’s father brought in a lawyer from another town, to be the girl’s attorney.

The attorney for the boys was Mr. Carey’s father, and what the girl’s father didn’t know, was that the two Attorneys went to law school together, and that they were best friends.

Then Mr. Cook paid the attorney off, and when the trial began, the attorney for the girl had made some legal blunders on purpose, so the Judge would threw out the case.

Then the father of the girl and his family moved out of town after that, because the young fellows taunted them after the trial.

After that all of the families owed Mr. Cook everything, for keeping their children out of jail, between the lawyer, and the Judge, they destroyed the court papers, so there would be no record of the trial. After that the five of them stuck together, and then they took over the town. So now you will see that the apples didn’t fall far from the tree, for today the younger set, have the same thing going for them. They haven’t been stealing as much as they fathers had, but as far as girls went, they did what they pleased with them, and not too many of the girls, said anything about it.

It was a different era, and people were a little freer with themselves in love making, so when some of the boys would hit on a girl, either she said yes, even at the time she didn’t really want to, she was in a spot, for if she backed out. She would not be part of that group that hung out with these boys or with the other girls that hung out with these boys.

Alice was walking home one afternoon from school, when Richard came up to her, and he tried to have a conversation with her, she only acknowledged his hello, for she wanted to keep on walking home, she was not really interested in him.

As she kept walking, he was getting a little irritated, you little bitch, what is your problem?

I don’t have a problem; I just want to go home.

Then he grabbed her by the arm, Listen bitch, when I want to talk to you, I want to talk to you.

She yelled out loud, Richard, take your hands off of me.

Just at that time, a man that she knew walked out of a store, he heard her yell, and he walked over to her.

Alice do you have a problem?

There is no problem here Mr., so just get the hell away from here.

I just want to go home.

All right Alice I’d walk you home.

Richard turned, and he looked at her, one-day bitch you will get yours.

    What’s going on Alice?

Oh he’s just mad, because I don’t bother with him, and I don’t pay any attention to him, and I guess he doesn’t like it. I want to thank you for being there and walking me home.

It was no problem, and if I were you I would stay away from the likes of him.

When she got home, her mother Clara, and father Bob ask her how her day went.

Oh the school was nice, then she kissed them both, now I have to go my room, and do my homework.

She didn’t want to say anything to her parents that someone had walked her home, or anything about what went on with Richard. Alice’s father was a very sick man, and she didn’t want him to get excited, for she was afraid that, that kind of news might make him worst.

It was on a Saturday, and Alice left the house, she went to the grocery store for her mother, to pick up some food for the family. Normally it took no more than an hour, for her to go to the store and come back; she had never been late before.

Two hours have gone by, and now her mother was very worried, why was she so late?

Clara got on the phone, and she called the store, hello was Alice in there?

Yes Alice was in here, and she had left a while ago, was the answer.

What Clara didn’t know was that Alice had bought the groceries, and she was on her way back home, when the boys were just leaving baseball practice.

Richard saw her walking with the packages in her arms, what do you say fellows, let’s go and have some fun with that little bitch?

And they all agreed with him, for they wanted to be in on the fun.

First they drove around the block; to be sure that no one was close enough, to see that they were there. Then Richard dropped two of the boys in front of her and another two of them behind her. Richard was driving the car, and he had told the two of them, that they should walk up on her from the front, like they where just out for a walk.

If she starts to run, that the two in the back would be there to grab her, then they were to throw her into the car, so they could go some place, and have some fun with her.

Alice in the meantime was thinking about her home and her family, as she was walking home, her father being so sick, and her mother was not very strong anymore, and now she had to do most of the work in the house. And one day, she hoped that she would have a good job, so she would be able to take care of her family. She had not noticed the car that had turned the corner, or the two boys walking toward her, she had just raised her head, to see how far she was from the corner. Then she saw the two boys in front of her, it was just two boys that she knew from school, and they waved at her, as if to say hello and she waved back, and she kept on walking, and when they reached up next to her.

One of the boys started to pass her on the right, and other one on the left, and as they passed her, they grabbed her by her arms; she had two bags of groceries in her arms, which fell to the ground, as they dragged her to the car. The other two fellows that was walking up from behind her, they grabbed some of the food off the ground, hoping that there would be something for them to eat later, while they were having some fun with her. They threw her into the car, and the four of them jumped in the car behind her, Richard and two of them were in the front seat, and the other two was in the back seat holding her, he started the car moving, and then they sped off.

Alice was fighting for her life now, as the boys were tearing her clothes off, and as she was struggling, one of the boys had already dropped his pants, and he was trying to have sex with her on the floor of the car.

Richard shouted back, "Hey not now, I’m first. Save that virgin for me, I want that little bitch first.

As he was saying this, he pulled up to an old barn, and then the four boys dragged her out of the car, and into the barn, and Richard followed them in. They had already taken all of her clothes off in the car, and now they threw her on the ground, then Richard dropped his pants, and he went for her, for she was his tonight, after that each boy took their turn with her, Tom had approached her from the rear. And when they were finished with her, they dumped her there, in the barn, and as they left the barn they were laughing about what they had jus done.

She heard Richard saying, That stuck up bitch got just what she deserved, and who the hell she thought that she was anyway?

Her clothes were in the car, and as they drove down the road back toward town, they threw her clothes out of the window of the car.

Alice was lying there on the ground crying, for it had happen so fast, that she was not sure what really happened. All she knew was that she was hurting and bleeding, and she had no clothes on.

Clara had called the sheriff; Tom this is Clara my daughter Alice missing.

He replied, Maybe she just went to a friend’s house, or to the library.

Tom, Alice was at the grocery store, and the grocer told me that she was there, and she had bought the groceries, and that she was on her way home. And that she had left there a while ago, so she didn’t go to a friend’s house, or to the library, something has happened to her.

Clara why don’t you wait awhile, she may be home any minute.

Please Tom, you know my daughter, and she doesn’t go running all over the place, please I know that something is wrong, please go look for her.

Then the sheriff finally went out to see if he could find Alice.

First he stopped at the grocery store, the storekeeper told him that she had been in, and that she had bought two large bags of food. The sheriff left there, and he drove slowly along the path that Alice would have taken to go home, as he drove he kept his eye on the path, that she would have walked on to go home, and then he saw something on the side of the road. It looked like a head of lettuce, he got out of his car, and he walked over to the spot. When he looked around, he saw a few items that had fallen from someone’s grocery bag. He bent over, and he picked up whatever he could find, and then he placed the items into the police car, after that he drove over to Alice’s home, to speak to Clara, he wanted to ask her, what was on the list that Alice was going to buy.

So he could check it out with her, and to see if it matched with what he found.

When Clara told him what she had sent Alice to the store for.

I think that I have a few items of yours that were on that list in my car, but no sign of Alice. Then he told her that he had some of the food, but not all of it.

Tom my daughter, what has happened to her?

I really don’t know Clara, but I’ll drive around, and I will ask some questions, to see what I can find out, if I find out anything about her, I’ll call you right away.

Then he left there, and he got into his car, to go see what he could find out.

Bob yelled out from the bedroom, Clara what is going on?

Bob, Our little girl is missing and I called Tom, and he was just here, and now he is going out to look for our little girl. I had sent her to the store for groceries, and she was there, and she bought them, and then she was on the way home, Tom had found some of the groceries, but not our baby.

Alice was getting herself together, the pain she had from what was done to her, was now leaving her, she found an old rag, and she used it to stop the bleeding, she had
