About the Author
Chapter 1
In the year of our Lord 1990 the then governor of Nevada found money in his budget to build the first subway in Las Vegas. He let the word out and so many people showed up to apply for jobs that they had to shut down the procedure until the next day. Many people were rejected because of not having the right licenses. The plan was to run it from each of the casinos on the strip to as far as the hospital. This would make it easier to get from one casino to the other without overburdening the bus situation. It was also hoped that the commuters who live in the city and work on the strip would be eased of the overcrowding problem. The carfare was set at a dollar one way. Remarkably the project was finished within one year. On opening day there was a huge ribbon cutting ceremony. All of the casinos had a medical doctor and nurse on call for minor problems. In cases of a heart attack or cancer treatment side effects the hospital was called to send an ambulance. The most common medical problem was the customers couldn’t pee and had to be catheterized. People would sit and gamble for hours on end and then couldn’t make when they finally gave in. During the construction of the subway the state of Nevada had the distinction of having the lowest unemployment rate in the country. They also had a population explosion because they were only hiring current residents for the jobs. When the subway was finished there was a mass exodus from the construction workers.
Chapter 2
Detective Schapiro and his wife Joyce were walking their dog in the park when Joyce decided to get together with Ronald and Eloise Dennelly. They had become fast friends over the past two years. Joyce made the phone call right away and Ronald agreed to it right away. They decided to meet in the diner for breakfast and take it from there. Robert had special privelages to bring his dog Daisy into the supermarket. Daisy helped out with a Code Adam about two months previously. She successfully found a child in the cookie aisle. Robert brought the dog into the supermarket quite by accident. He just walked in and forgot the dog was with him. Everybody loved the Beagle. She adored all the attention. When this happened the staff immediately found Robert and Robert took over the case. They all went into the supermarket and went straight for the lunch meat counter. Joyce was in charge of the food. She brought a pound of ham, a pound of spiced ham, a pound of macaroni salad, and a pound of potato salad.
Robert saw that and asked: Who are you feeding and army? With all that food you can invite my whole squad to join you.
Joyce said: You and Ronald can put it away like nobody’s business and you know it.
Robert said: Ronald doesn’t eat like that anymore. He is off his insulin and eats much different now.
Joyce said: "Blah, blah, blah!!! I will feed your squad lunch with the leftovers. Eloise and I have to eat too you know. What do
