    Mark belched loudly as he totteringly flopped into his recliner. "Dammit," he sighed, his warm breath reeking of bourbon. His gaze lowered on its own, and he noticed several wet spots on his shirt from where he had spilled some of his drink down himself. Desperate, he lifted it to suckle them; they were all that remained of his store of alcohol. He wanted more because booze proved to be more effective than sleeping pills, but it was now early evening. He wasn’t in any condition to drive or deal with the relentless blitz that was poised and waiting for him.
