    Preface

    This short story is an outtake from my novel that takes place about a month before the opening of, The Last Alignment: Cry of the Scorpions. It centers on the most unfortunate fate of Mrs. Sarah Allis which serves as the catalyst for a particular tragedy in TLA:CotS. This piece originated as what was to be a prologue, but got left on the cutting room floor as I later felt it to be an unnecessary addition. I am now releasing a revised version of it to thank everyone who has shown me support thus far.

    "Sarah, that was absolutely delicious. Kate wiped the corners of her mouth with a white cloth napkin. I’ve never enjoyed meatloaf that much.
