About this ebook
When his grandfather is arrested and sent to jail, a young African boy who has already lost his mother and father is left orphaned to fend for himself in the remote bush of Zambia. How will he survive alone? What will he eat in a place where there are no stores to buy food? He doesnt even have a name or know how old he is. Will this child find someone to help him? I Will Call Myself Future is based on the true story of an orphan who finds that God is a faithful Father to the fatherless, and He comes to the aid of the poor and the forgotten, promising to give them a hope and a future.
Rachel Land
Following a childhood dream to serve in Africa, Jamie Bagge has traveled to Zambia many times on short term mission trips with an organization called Aids Orphans and Street Children to serve the needs of orphaned children in bush villages. She has camped in rural areas to sew school uniforms, to bring shoes for children who have never worn shoes, and to share the love of Christ for those who have not heard the Gospel. During these trips, she has seen the desperate circumstances of these beautiful and promising children, who wait for the door of opportunity to open for them, and she has resolved to do what she can to let others know of their needs. As a graduate from the University of Washington in Creative Writing, Jamie always dreamed of writing children’s stories about what God has done for others around the world, and this story is the beginning of that dream. There are many more stories to tell of God’s faithfulness to the orphans and Jamie hopes to relay more of them in the future to encourage others to take part in the work God is doing in the children of Africa. Rachel Land knew from an early age that she wanted to illustrate children’s books, and started work on her first book, Only One Henrietta, at the age of 18. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in painting and drawing and has since continued to pursue illustration. She currently lives in Washington with her family, where she enjoys turning felt into small animals, crocheting hats, and, of course, illustrating.
