Recognizing God’S Call to You - Rodney Jacobs

    The Existence!

Just imagine you are driving down a dark street while coming home from work. You are feeling very good about yourself because you just received a bonus for an outstanding job. Most people would say to themselves, Wow, I did a great job! but not really thanking who helped them get the bonus. Yes, you have worked hard for the money. However, there is always someone guiding you to an outstanding achievement of existence.

Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end: attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious free life. (2 Timothy 2:7 NIV)

Without the power of God and his Son Jesus Christ nothing would be possible. Therefore, when you lay your head down to sleep recall that all blessings, small or large, come from the Father, and we couldn’t do anything without his grace and mercy.

    Thought

    Pray:

Lord, please assist with putting my thoughts in your hands so I can make good decisions that are led by you and for you.

    Not an Accident

When growing up as a young child your parents would take you to a local amusement park. There, you would play games to win prizes, you would throw a ball to knock down pins or throw rings to win the prize. You continue to spend money to win that prize; because deep down inside your mind tells you "never quit". Our competitive nature tells us to try and try again. This lets us know that we have a purpose; that is to win the game of chance. This friend is "Not an Accident"; again you knew your chance to win was slim but you played any way, and maybe you walked away a winner.

I have carried you since you were born; I have taken care of you from your birth. Even when you are old, I will be the same. Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you. I made you and will take care of you.(Isaiah 46:3-4) NCV

With God, you are always a winner! There is no game of chance, he made you for a purpose. From the very moment you took your first breath you were on your way to greatness. With games there is only chance, but with God there is always GREATNESS!

    Thought for

    Pray:

Lord, thank you for creating me for who I am, for you gave me existence to change the world. Lord, continue to comfort me and help me complete the objectives which you have ordained for me.

    Driven Resolution

Imagine graduating from a major university. After graduation, you decide to continue your education to further your learning. Now your peers label you as a full-time student of education, and your goals are never met in your life expectations. All in all, you find your quest is never solidified, and you tell yourself, maybe things will be different with this higher degree. However, you continue to seek out new goals with no satisfaction. We continue to run from our calling.

Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants. (John 17:20) NIV

God has a purpose to fulfill in every life, and at times it is difficult determining what that purpose is. However, we must earnestly seek that purpose through prayer and reflection, not stress, fatigue or conflict. When all the stress and fatigue have been overcome; then the discovery of our purpose begins. Then our focus is not
