Once, in land far away, there lived a man and his beautiful wife. Because this man’s wife was dear to him, each and every day after a hard day’s work, he went into a nearby garden and picked for her three lovely roses. Needles to say, this man did not know that this beautiful garden belonged to an evil old lady.

One day while working in her garden, the lady noticed that her roses were starting to disappear. So she asked, Where are my precious flowers going? And so she said to herself, I shall wait to see who takes flight with my roses in the night, while they are yet new!

So the lady stayed near and watched her garden, and for many days, she saw the same man dancing and singing—with her precious flowers in hand—about his true love.

So one day, she took hold of him and asked, My son, why is it that you take what is mine? Did you not know that they belonged to someone and that they are both precious and fine?
