PREFACE

Dear reader,

I would like to share with you some things about tithes and offerings in the church that the Lord has taught and revealed to me, within these last two decades of my life. I think that you will find what I have to share with you, both educational and spiritually beneficial in your walk with the Lord. I am not a well-known minister or anyone of great importance in the eyes of man, by any means; but I have been instructed by the Lord, to say what he has told me to say. If you will, join me on a trip down the road of truth.

I hope you will!

INTRODUCTION

T HE FIRST TIME YOU SAW OR heard the title of my book, you probably got the impression that I don’t believe in tithing; but that’s not the case at all! In fact, I do believe in tithing, but not in same traditional way or for the same reasons that it has been taught, for the last few decades. Before I get to the business of explaining myself: let me just say for the record, that I know for a fact that tithing is a very important issue in the modern church world today; and there are countless numbers of Christians and non-Christians as well, that have questions and doubts, about paying tithes to a church or ministry.

A large number of the worlds’ society, has mocked the Christian community for conceiving such an idea of paying tithes in the first place. As a matter of fact: before I became a Christian, I thought that the people in church, that paid tithes, had been brain washed by their pastors and ministers. This is what I really believed! But I wasn’t alone in my assumption. I heard conversations from people everywhere I went, who shared the same opinion. To me and many others: it just didn’t make any sense to pay some church or ministry, ten percent of their income (the tithe). But then on the other hand, I have heard plenty of Christians and non-Christians, give lots of reasons why we all should be paying tithes. But no matter how many different opinions derives from this highly talked subject; the fact remains: that tithing is a part of biblical teaching; and remains at the top of the list, for Sunday sermons all across the USA, and other countries as well.

During the time of my Christian experience, I’ve heard many different opinions and thoughts, from hundreds of people about tithing; and the one thing that stands clear in my mind, is the fact that the search for a true and pin point explanation about tithing, is sought after by people of all financial standings, and situations.

If you are not familiar with what tithing is; then let me give you a brief explanation of what it is. Tithing simply put: is when a person sets apart ten percent of his or her income, and gives it to a church or ministry, as payment to God, for what we owe or belongs to Him. (At least, that’s the modern new age translation of tithing)

Some people say that we are required to pay tithes because tithing is part of the law that God gave to Moses, to give to the children of Israel; and we have become part of the children Israel, through the work and sacrifice of Christ Jesus. Some people say that we are not required to pay tithes because tithing was called for by God in the old Bible days, and has nothing to do with us today. Some say that we shouldn’t pay tithes because they believe that the preachers and pastor just want to get rich and live an extravagant lifestyle from the money generated from those that pay tithes. Others say that we are not expected to pay tithes because Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law; and tithing was part of that law.

Not only do people disagree on whether we should pay tithes or not; but they also disagree on how we should pay them. There are those that say we should calculate our tithes from the gross of our income; then there are those that say we should calculate our tithes from the net of our income. Still yet, there are those that say tithes have nothing to do with money at all; but rather: tithing concern the giving of the things that we grow or raise from the earth: such as corn, wheat and farm animals.

The different opinions go on and on; but the real problem is the fact that it can and has caused some very disturbing problems in the Body of Christ (the Church). The tithe message has been taught and misunderstood in such a bad way, that it has caused many Christian followers to leave the church altogether; because they either think that they don’t have to pay tithes; or they feel that they cannot meet the expectations that are placed upon them, because of the tithe. Some seek other churches or denominations, where the message of tithing doesn’t come to often; and if it does, it’s not presented too harshly, and not with too much demand backing it. What I mean by this is, some preachers and Christians teach and preach tithing so profoundly, that a person is considered to be a thief and has robbed God Himself, if they don’t pay their tithes, the way that they have been taught to do so, by them. For this reason, some people give up on seeking God and Christ in their lives altogether. And the strange part of this is the fact that most people hear the message of tithing well before they hear or understand the message of salvation through Christ Jesus Our Lord!

And, that’s crazy: right?

Needless to say: this must be very disturbing in the Kingdom of God!

A number of big names and not so big names in the church and ministry today, say that tithing is written in black and white plainly; and if the people of the church don’t pay their tithes the way they should, they are just being disobedient, and are cursed by God for not doing so: and that’s that.

The curses that they say will come upon a person (from God) for not paying their tithes, ranges anywhere from not being able to keep a dollar in your pocket—to your food spoiling in your refrigerator before you have a chance to eat any of it. (Smile)

To tithe, or not to tithe: that is the question.

Is there a clear cut answer, and true explanation about tithing, that can set the record straight once and for all? Yes there is! And that truth is what I want to share with as many of the children of God as I can. I don’t even want to contemplate the idea of trying to tell anyone whether they should tithe or not; but if you have ever wondered whether you should pay tithes or not; or if you have questions about how to tithe, when to tithe, and what to expect to gain from tithing; then you owe it to yourself to completely read what I have to share with you about tithes and offerings.

I did not write this book to gain wealth or to become famous in the eyes of man. I wrote it because the Lord wanted me to share what He has revealed to me about tithes and offerings, to the Body of Christ; and I have taken on this task after much consideration, with love and pureness of heart. The Lord called me Himself to preach the gospel, and to teach His Word. But before I could do so: He had to teach me his word; because I had no real knowledge or interest in knowing anything about the Bible: other than the things that I had been taught as a child, about God and Jesus Christ. I had no real knowledge about the truth of salvation or the Spirit of God; not to mention tithing. After I was born again (saved), into the kingdom of God, He began to open up my understanding to the Bible. As time went by; He also opened up my understanding to a lot of misunderstood scriptures in the Bible. Some of the things that the Lord taught me, came about because I asked him about certain scriptures that I had concerns about; that were in my opinion, quite confusing and in total opposition to the way that most ministers taught them, compared to the way that the Bible presented them; but the majority of the time, it was because the Lord himself, wanted to. Why? Because, God wants his children to fully understand and know the truth of his Word.

I have found that
