My name is Abraham Alexander. Since I turned 16, I’ve been skeptical about everything in my life including my faith in God, but most recently I find myself wondering the most about the true purpose of dreaming. We take adventures in our mind every time we close our eyes. The dream world consumes us all at night and during the day as we fall victim to an unknown fate that awaits us. Some people might theorize that dreams are created by your mind because it never stops thinking, nor sleeps. Dreams can involve desires, hopes, wishes, torments, and injuries that possibly tell about people’s pasts or predicts their future within their own beliefs and partiality. Acts 2:17 from the bible states, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams."
I’m a 28-years-old; a brown-haired and eyed, 5'7, Hispanic male. I live in Los Angeles, California, where I was born and raised, and I work for a construction company employed as a foreman and welder. I’m single and live by myself. Growing up in Los Angeles, I was surrounded by the only family I had, who made life complete: my mother, my father, and my grandmother. Life was fabulous until I turned 16, and my parents died in an ill-fated crash that began to mold my life into an unceasing tragedy. Our family car, no bigger than a shoe box, was tossed around on the road in a storm that could easily have washed us away. Suddenly, our car, laying dead in the road, collided with an oncoming big rig whose screeching brakes could not stop. I survived, yet their agonizing shrieks haunt me to this very day.
Struggling to continue and deal with the devastating loss of my parents, my grandmother raised me until I was 18. Battling through the last five years of her life against cancer had finally taken the last toll as she fell asleep one day and never woke up. As I began to cope with the chain of events my friends surrounded me with the best of intentions, yet the reality of living alone in this cold, confused, and misguided world, continuing on my own, trying to figure out this weird thing called life, and finding my purpose plagues me.
I live day to day searching for the missing piece of me that would make me feel genuinely alive. The piece that would be my salvation from this world, fill me with a pure heavenly love, make me feel worthy and purposeful. In searching for this missing piece I’ve encountered three women, illusions who have brought more misfortune into my life, only injuring me further. Except for one—who I’ve been with, what seems to be a million times—the only problem is I don’t know if she is real. Since the passing of my parents, she has appeared in my dreams creating an echoing resonance in my mind, always being my salvation from hard times. Her name is Luz, she is the light that always illuminates my life.
The three women in my past exhibited similar attributes of my Luz while I tried to create a romantic connection with each. I was searching for the unfathomably mysterious cosmic love of my Luz. Recollections of my Luz and of those three have lain dormant in my mind until now, have recently revived causing me to embark on a quest through ten hellacious and extraordinary dreams these last two days. I’ve always wanted to believe I was an ordinary person but my purpose in life is beyond a simple explanation. These are my dreams and my story to search for my purpose in life. May God
