E. Mike Lorance is an outdoors columnist for the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was born and raised in Murfreesboro and lives there in the home he shared with his wife Ruby until her death in 2006. He has a daughter, son-in-law, and five grandsons. Patricia Floyd is a first-time author at the age of seventy-one. She is a native of Jackson County, Tennessee, and lives in Murfreesboro with her husband, Don. They have a son, daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
