About this ebook

Rare talent is like a black orchid
Painted in every color bright alive

As evidenced in his first compilation of poetry, author Michael JP Williams is not afraid to constantly re-evaluate his life. While drawing on inspiration from traumatic past events as well as biblical themes, Williams illustrates his poignant personal struggle through lyrical verse that posesand attempts to answerhis many introspective questions.

Williams carefully explores the human condition, emotions, and passions that accompanied him on a journey of self-exploration. In Evolution: Mark of Cain, Williams reexamines the biblical tale of Cain and Abel and adds his own creative twist. While wondering if Cain really killed his brother or simply watched him die from cancer, Williams contemplates whether the blame of Cain was justifiable. In Dissolution: Lazarus Arising, Williams speculates why the Savior waited until Lazarus died before performing a miracle. Finally in Revolution: BIB RIB, Williams shares his most revolutionary work that takes a poignant look at life, its beauty, and heartbreak.

The poetry in Evolution: Dissolution: Revolution encourages deep reflection on why the past will always have the power to affect the future.

    Mark of Cain©

    Book One

    Adam didn’t know,

    Eve wouldn’t tell,

    Abel has cancer.

    Remember for the moment

    The Adam and the Eve,

    The young and the perfect

    Basking in the sun.

    What did they want?

    When they awoke before dawn,

    Shivering and shaking,

    Touching yet quivering.

    A calm touch to reassure

    Beauty and goodness slipping,

    Alone but together.

    Afraid to face,

    Any truth.

    Where does the light end?

    Where does the black begin?

    Seeing only the narrow truth

    Told to them.

    Fruit of the womb

    Must be eaten first

    Before the seed is planted.

    The cock crows,

    The wind blows,

    How quiet it becomes

    Right before dawn!

    Eat me,

    The animal cried,

    Was it serpent and swan?

    Nor lizard or varmint;

    It begged.

    Eve cried,

As she looked into a crystal pond.

    Was it fear?

No, she saw how a ripple wrinkles

    The countenance.

    Oppression, Suppression, Depression?

    Eve cried for her fear;

    And bit into her flesh,

    Ruby red and raw;

    She bled.

    Eve cried

    And screamed,

    In pain yet joy,

    She laughed and smugged

    And became woman.

    And sensed

    And smelled woman!

    No longer an appendage

    Or accessory

    But a woman!

    Determined,

    Yet alone,
