About this ebook
Santania Francis
Ever since I was a little girl, writing was something that I could turn to. Whether through the bad or the good.I was born in Jamaica where I was raised by my mother. My dad left and didn't look back on us. When I started high school i started writing short stories, that's when my imagination would run wild.I could write about anything. I wanted to become a screenwriter but I just wasn't sure if I had the credential to do so.

black.jpgAMBER McCall IS A WHITE GIRL WITH DIRTY-BLONDE HAIR THAT FELL ON HER SHOULDERS, A SOFT BABY FACE WITH BIG BLUE EYES, A BONY NOSE AND THIN PALE-PINK LIPS. SHE IS A VERY LOVELY GIRL WITH A DARK SECRET.
SHE LIVED IN LOS ANGELES FOR ABOUT TWENTY YEARS THEN DECIDED TO MOVE TO NEW YORK.
JOHN LANE IS A CAUCASIAN GUY WITH SHORT BRUNETTE HAIR, A THICK FACE WITH EYES TOO CLOSELY SPACED, A NOSE MARKED BY ENLARGE PORES.
JOHN HAD SPENT SOME TIME IN PRISON FOR MURDER. HE WAS IN PRISON FOR SIX YEARS AND IS NOW OUT.
JOHN HAS BEEN AMBERS BOYFRIEND FOR THREE YEARS NOW.
THEY STAYED IN A LITTLE APARTMENT IN MANHATTAN. IT IS A ONE BED ROOM WITH BATHROOM, KITCHEN, AND A LIVING ROOM. IT WAS ON THE FIFTH FLOOR IN ROOM 666. IT IS NOT ALL THAT BUT THEY KEEP IT VERY WELL.
JOHN AND AMBER SAT IN THE COACH WITH THE TELEVISION AN MUTE, A CNN CHICK SOUNDLESSLY RUNNING HER MOUTH ABOUT SOMETHING A MINUTE OR TWO, THEN A KEY RATTLED IN THE DOOR LOCK, AND KEVIN CAME IN. HE WAS WEARING A RED JACKET AND A DENIM JEANS, AND A RED TENNIS SHOES, CARRYING A GROCERY BAG IN HIS HAND.
HE FLASHED A SMILE, GENUINELY HAPPY TO SEE THEM.
HE CLOSED THE DOOR BEHIND HIM AND SAID,
IT’S GOOD TO SEE MY TWO FAVORITE FRIENDS. HOW ARE YOU GUYS DOING?
WE ARE GOOD AND FOR THE RECORD WE ARE YOUR ONLY FRIENDS.
SAID AMBER WITH A SMILE ON HER FACE.
YEAH, THANKS FOR RUBBING IT IN MY FACE.
KEVIN REPLY
YOU TWO KIDS PLAY NICE, SO WHAT’S IN THE BAG?
ASKED JOHN.
KEVIN PULLED OUT A BOTTLE OF HENNESSY AND SAID,
I HAVE A BOTTLE OF THE FINEST DRINK.
I WILL GET THE ICE
SAID JOHN.
JOHN GOT THE ICE AND THEY ALL SAT AND DRINK.
SO WHAT’S UP?
ASKED KEVIN.
I WAS HOPING YOU COULD TELL US.
SAID JOHN.
WELL I HAVE BEEN PARTING DAWG.
REPLIED KEVIN.
GLAD TO KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN HAVING FUN.
SAID AMBER AS SHE TOOK A DRINK FROM HER CUP.
WHY DON’T WE GO OUT TONIGHT?
AMBER SUGGESTED.
THAT SOUNDS GREAT.
REPLIED KEVIN WITH A GRIN ON HIS FACE.
THEY WERE UP TO SOMETHING. AND WHATEVER IT WAS, IT WAS NOT GOOD. THEY GOT DRESS AND LEFT FOR THE CLUB.
AT THE CLUB THEY ALL WENT IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. KEVIN SAW A GIRL WHO WAS IN HER EARLY TWENTIES. SHE WAS TALL AND SKINNY WITH CURLY STRAWBERRY BLOND HAIR. KEVIN WALKED OVER TO HER AND SAID,
HELLO, MAY I JOIN?
SHE TURNED AROUND AND SMILED AND SAID,
SURE.
KEVIN.
SARAH.
IT’S A PLEASURE.
SAID KEVIN AS HE KISSED SARAH’S HAND.
SAME HERE.
SARAH REPLIED.
WHAT ARE YOU DRINKING?
WATER.
COME ON. LET ME GET A REAL DRINK.
KEVIN AND SARAH WALKED OVER TO THE BAR WHERE AMBER AND JOHN WAS STANDING. KEVIN GOT SARAH A DRINK BUT BEFORE HE GAVE IT TO HER HE POURED SOMETHING IN IT.
HERE, DRINK UP.
SAID KEVIN HAS HE GAVE IT TO HER.
THANKS.
SARAH TOOK IT AND TOOK A BIG DRINK AND DRANK IT ALL OFF.
SEE, I CAN HANDLE MY DRINK.
SAID SARAH AS SHE GIGGLED. SHE STARTED WALKING BUT SHE WAS TOO WEAK TO WALK AND SHE NEARLY FELL.
HEY, YOU OK THERE?
ASKED KEVIN AS HE SIGNAL AMBER TO GET THE CAR.
YEAH, I AM GREAT.
COME ON WE GOT TO GET YOU OUTTA HERE.
HE PUT HER HAND AROUND HIS NECK AND TOOK HER OUT SIDE. AMBER AND JOHN WAS OUT SIDE WAITING IN THE CAR. JOHN GOT OUT AND HELPED KEVIN PUT SARAH IN THE CAR. THEY TOOK HER BACK TO AMBER’S APARTMENT.
SARAH WOKE UP IN TOTAL DARKNESS, TOTAL PAIN. SHE TRIED TO RAISE HER HEAD BUT SOMETHING WAS AROUND HER NECK HOLDING HER HEAD DOWN, SHE COULDN’T SEE ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WAS TOO DARK.
THAT’S WHEN SHE REALIZED SHE WAS TIED UP, HER WRIST AND ANKLES. ON A BED ARE SOMETHING FLAT.
THE PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE. SHE COULD SEE NOTHING IN THE BLACKNESS. HEAR NOTHING.
HER HEAD BEGAN TO THROB WITH ALMOST UNENDURABLE PAIN BEHIND HER EARS. SHE TRIED TO ASK IF ANYONE WAS THERE, WHAT WAS HAPPENING, BUT HER MOUTH WOULDN’T OPEN. SOMETHING, TAPE PROBABLY, WAS OVER HER LIPS, SEALING THEM TOGETHER. SHE PARTED THEM WITH DIFFICULTY BUT COULD ONLY MAKE A SOFT MUFFLED SOUND HALFWAY BETWEEN A MOAN AND A SOB. SHE MADE THE PITIFUL SOUND AGAIN. ANY SOUND WAS BETTER THAN THE DARKNESS AND SILENCE, AND THE PAIN.
LIGHT!
BLINDING SARAH. SHE INVOLUNTARILY CLENCHED HER EYES SHUT.
WHEN SARAH DID MANAGE TO OPEN HER EYES SHE SAW THE TOP OF A CEILING, HARD WOOD RUNNING ONE DIRECTIONS, JOISTS ANOTHER. HER WRIST WERE TIED ON THE BED HEAD WITH THICK ROPE THAT HAD CUT OFF THE CIRCULATION SO THAT HER FINGER WERE PALE.
SHE REALIZES THAT SHE WAS IN A BASEMENT. SILVER CONCRETE WALLS, WOODEN SUPPORT BEAMS.
TETRAS WELLED UP IN HER EYES AND TRACKED DOWNWARDS BENEATH HER HAIRLINE.
MOTION CAUGHT HER GAZE, AND THERE HE WAS IN HER PAIN-BLURRED VISION, THE MAN FROM LAST NIGHT WITH TWO OTHER PEOPLE, ONE WHO IS A GIRL. SHE WASN’T SURPRISED TO SEE HIM. HE HAD TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.
HE WAS WALKING TOWARD HER. WHEN SHE SAW KEVIN WITH A KNIFE IN HIS HAND HER HEART LEAPED. SHE DID TRY TO STRUGGLE THEN, BUT COULDN’T SO MUCH AS SQUIRM.
SHE JUST LIED THERE LIFELESS WITH TEARS IN HER EYES.
DON’T BE SCARED, WE WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU.
SAID AMBER AS SHE STROKE SARAH’S HAIR.
JOHN TOOK A RECORDING CAMERA OUT AND STARTED TAPING THEM.
YOU LOOK THIRSTY, WILL YOU LIKE SOME WATER?
ASKED KEVIN.
SHE HESITATED FOR A WHILE BUT SHE WAS REALLY THIRSTY AND HER THROAT WAS FEELING A LITTLE DUSTY.
SHE DRANK IT ALL OFF AND THEY GAVE HER A NEXT BOTTLE AND SHE ALSO DRANK IT.
GOOD GIRL.
SAID AMBER.
WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
SARAH ASKED IN A FAINT VOICE.
SO SHE SPEAKS.
SAID JOHN
WHY?
PEOPLE LIKE YOU ALWAYS ASK THE SAME QUESTION. WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? BUT I NEVER HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THOSE QUESTIONS.
JOHN REPLIED.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS.
SAID SARAH.
HONEY WE ARE NOT GOING TO HURT YOU.
REPLIED AMBER.
YES SARAH, WE WILL NEVER HURT YOU.
SAID KEVIN AS HE TOOK THE KNIFE AND RUBBED SARAH ACROSS HER STOMACH.
SARAH STARTED CRYING UNCONTROLLABLY.
AMBER WAS GETTING MAD BECAUSE OF SARAH’S NON-STOP CRYING AND SAID, SHUT HER UP NOW.
SHE IS NOT THAT LOUD AND NO ONE CAN HEAR HER.
KEVIN REPLIED.
SHUT HER UP ARE I WILL.
SAID AMBER ANGRILY.
JUST PUT SOME TAPE OVER MOUTH KEVIN.
SAID JOHN STILL HOLDING THE CAMERA.
OK.
SAID KEVIN AS HE PUT THE TAPE OVER HER MOUTH.
AFTER THEY TAPED HER UP THEY LEFT THE ROOM AND WENT OUT TO THE LIVING ROOM. THERE THEY SAT IN SILENCE.
THINKING
THINKING ABOUT WHAT TO DO NEXT WITH SARAH. JOHN WALKED TO THE KITCHEN AND CAME BACK WITH A KNIFE IN HIS HAND. HE HANDED THE KNIFE TO AMBER AND SHE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THAT MEANT.
MAKE ME PROUD.
JOHN SAID AS HE KISSED AMBER ON HER FOREHEAD.
HAVEN’T I ALWAYS.
SHE SAID WITH A DEVIOUS SMILE ON HER FACE.
DON’T MAKE A MESS.
SAID KEVIN.
SHUT UP AND LET’S GO,
SAID JOHN AS HE SHOVED KEVIN TO THE DOOR, I’LL BE BACK SOON.
OK.
REPLIED AMBER.
AFTER THEY LEFT THE ROOM AMBER LOOKED AT THE KNIFE FOR A SECOND THEN SHE WENT DOWN TO THE BASEMENT.
AMBER WALKED OVER TO SARAH. SARAH WAS SCREAMING BUT NO SOUND WAS COMING OUT BECAUSE OF THE TAPE OVER HER MOUTH. AMBER RAN THE BACK OF THE KNIFE ACROSS SARAH’S THROAT.
I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE.
SAID AMBER AS SHE TOOK THE TAPE FROM SARAH’S MOUTH.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
ASKED SARAH WITH HER VOICE SHAKING WITH FEAR.
OH SARAH YOU ARE A WHORE OF COURSE.
AMBER REPLIED WHILE SHE RAN THE KNIFE ACROSS SARAH’S STOMACH.
WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME.?
ASK SARAH.
YOU KNOW WHY.
BECAUSE I AM A PROSTITUTE?
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT PEOPLE LIKE YOU DO TO PEOPLE LIKE ME.
I HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO HURT ANYONE.
SARAH REPLIED WITH TEARS RUNNING DOWN HER EAR TEMPLE.
