    Bloodline - Marie Pennock

    Chapter One

The days grew colder as Christina’s time was upon her, Christina screamed as the pain got worst; Simon took hold of her hand. The moonlight reflected on the new baby, she was born on the stroke of midnight. Resting back on the pillows Christina stared down at her new daughter she knew why she had to be born that she was the future of their bloodline. The Gods’ didn’t know Shannah’s future however she was a descendant of the water Goddess with that strength she was given and the skill to fight evil she would one day be powerful. The past and future was set in the present. Rachel took hold of Shannah cleaning her she handed the baby to Simon, arranging the pillows Christina laid back closing her eyes the fear filled her heart Shannah future was uncertain. Simon’s family was waiting outside for the news of the future; many were waiting outside the hospital to catch a glimpse of their leader’s daughter.

Contented and calm that was Shannah as a baby. She used the force that the Gods’ bestow lacking the control, many times she would have Kane’s toys or hiding in her grandmother house. Shannah was always very close to her grandmother. Countless times Gaynor woke up with Shannah asleep in her arms. The night before her fourth birthday, the Angel Michael was sent by the Gods’ to teach Shannah how to control her ability, a four year old with the soul of a Goddess, a soul older than time, older than mankind. The memories of time gone by, memories of an ancient darkness in her heart. Looking at Shannah she seemed like a normal child playing and talking to imaginary friends, but she was playing with the magical creatures of the universe.

Jed and Michael were working on the knowledge the Gods’ sent mankind, a new energy for the earth an energy that wouldn’t destroy the very world that mankind treasured. Lighting conducts were fitted on each building and small metal boxes in each room to store the energy. Above the earth solar panels rotated. The Gods’ showed mankind that they could use the power from the sun and earth; there was a natural force from the rotating planets. Jed was amazed by the knowledge that the Gods’ showed mankind, cars were running by the natural force a clean power from the earth they walked on, the sun that kept them warm. Mankind was also taught how to communicate through thinking. The earth was a safe and peaceful place to live, many died at the last battle but their souls was saved. The world was governed by Simon and his council of twelve below him. There was no crime and no hunger every man; women and child had warmth and food. Simon commanded his council with caution in his heart he held the fear of the past close because he believed maybe evil could find a way to return. Mankind was spit into different groups’; there were groups’ who farmed and grew food, groups’ who were people of science. Groups’ that kept the earth clean and last teachers. Within seven years mankind became skilled in working together not for money but peace.

Sin was taken from the hearts of mankind by the Gods’. Every year on the day of the last battle mankind prepared a feast celebrating the end of evil. Gaynor, Christina, Hannah and Isabella were picking vegetables for the feast and herbs for brewing mediations.

I yearn the time we made spells. I know it is a better time but I can’t help what I feel, Gaynor said as she placed a handful of herbs in her basket.

Shannah was helping to gather herbs with her mother and grandmother she loved the colours and the smell of the herbs. Closing her eyes the smell of these remarkable plants and the stories they told her heart. She never felt like the children she liked to play with at school, they enjoyed silly games. She could laid back staring up at the sky and listening to the stories the earth told her.

Anthony and Simon sat together talking. Everyone around the earth was enjoying the celebrations. Anthony could see that Simon was worrying about the past not believing that Lucifter was gone, not comfortable in the present.

Don’t cling to fear the evil is gone you saw Lucifter die, evil is but a dream. Now enjoy the celebrations, go and dance with your wife.

Staring over to Christina he saw the delight in her eyes as she danced with their daughter Shannah. He rose walking over to them wrapping he arms around Christina they danced together, the celebration went on late into the night and the peace was felt all over the earth.

Shannah was a beautiful seven year old who everybody loved. She was gifted beyond her years; she had the sight and the knowledge of the James bloodline. She held the power of the Gods’.

Simon, Christina and Indiana sat together watching Shannah playing. Indiana smiled he loved this child the secret he held close to his heart, the truth of their bloodline. The older she got the more his memories came back to him. It was hard to keep the truth buried in his soul lying to the people he loved. The Gods’ told him not to tell a soul of the knowledge he held, but why Indiana never asked.

Why do you stare at Shannah, what do you see, Christina asked anxiously.

It is not for me to say however she is safe and will have a good life, Indiana answered quickly.

The dark that Simon and his family saw when they looked into Shannah’s future was gone replaced with colours swirling around a river the smell of chamomile, calmness. Shannah turned staring at her parents she stood up walking to Christina leaping onto her lap, snuggled up into her arm she smiled.

Mummy the colours are pretty, she whispered as she closed her eyes falling asleep.

The sudden stillness, Simon looked at Indiana then at Christina. Shannah had answered their question, they were frightened. She was strong what laid ahead Shannah would have the strength in mind and heart. The Gods’ will always keep Shannah safe.

Christina stood up walking Shannah to her bedroom, holding onto her firmly not wanting to move in this moment in time, keeping her daughter safe. She laid her on the bed staring out of the window Christina saw that the sun setting. Their family would be here soon for Simon and Indiana had worked all day cooking. Shannah opened her eyes staring past Christina she said.

He is hiding in the mountains, coming, coming with his daddy memories, pain in his heart. Falling back to sleep Shannah didn’t remember what she had said.

Shannah had been having these dreams for two weeks now the sight was strong in her soul. What did they mean? Christina returned to Simon and Indiana, they were sitting in the garden glancing at the sunset. Simon and Indiana stood up walking back into the house in silence. Christina turned looking at the sunset; the earth was a beautiful and peaceful place for the last seven years so why did Shannah see evil. Gathering her thoughts she told Simon what Shannah had said.

Shannah is having the same dreams again. Looking at Indiana she added. What does it mean?

Indiana wanted to tell them the truth but he had to keep the secret for Shannah. He knew that Lucifter had a son but not where he was. He would have a power to bring sin back to the earth, but Shannah needed to love him for this to happen.

The Gods’ will keep her safe. She is a descendant of the water Goddess, her future is planned, Indiana answered with feeling.

He couldn’t tell them that something terrible could happen in her future. Suddenly voices spoke from a distance the sound of running water, the smell of chamomile, a magnificently shining light an Angel emerging from the light.

Shannah will reach a time when she has to go home.

The land stood still the Angel was gone the word of the Gods’ was spoken. Shannah walked out of her bedroom rubbing her eyes she jumped up onto Indiana’s lap snuggling into his shoulder, he smiled down at her. She was very unique and when the time is right she will know . . .

Simon stood up. Should I take her back to bed?

No, could she stay here for a while, Indiana answered.

Walking through the gate, entering their house Simon and Christina’s family had arrived for dinner. The sun had gone down, the night had started it was colder but peaceful. Indiana always took pleasure in the time when all his family were together for he knew that happiness never lasted long; the sound of laughter filled the house.

Is Shannah still having those dreams? Gaynor asked.

Yes, Simon answered after a brief silence.

What did the Gods’ say about the dreams? Hannah asked Indiana.

She could be seeing shadows of the past, her sight is powerful.

After they had finished dinner the James family moved to the living opening the French doors to the garden making the most of the cooler evening. Christina wanted to change the conversation but needed to ask Indiana to talk to the Gods’ about Shannah, waiting for the moment. Indiana glimpsed at Christina she was very quiet.

    What’s on your mind?

Hesitating Christina answered. Shannah doesn’t like school; she is bored there has to be something she could do. Perhaps you could see what the Gods’ think.

I will talk to them tomorrow.

Staring at the clock Ian saw that it was getting late deciding that it was time to leave, as they enter the car Hannah glanced up at the window Shannah was smiling down at them, she seemed like a ghost. Closing the door Simon and Christina heard Shannah crying.

I will see if she is fine, make some coffee, Simon offered.

Simon walked into Shannah room she was sitting up in the bed crying.

    What’s wrong baby.

Daddy I will not see my family again, I am scared, she kissed her dad before going to sleep.

Why did Shannah have these visions or nightmares? She looked calmer now, her breathing was softer. Indiana knew what this all meant but why was he keeping the truth from them?

Christina was sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee, looking up she knew what Simon was thinking over the years the nightmares that haunted Shannah, they needed answers. They didn’t believe Shannah would be tortured like this, was this to be her very existence; they wanted to know the truth. No more was said about Shannah. In two days time Indiana will return from the land of the Gods’ with the news that Shannah had to spend four years with the Gods’, this news would sadden the James family. As her parents slept soundly in their bed Shannah stared up at the sky, a fresh breeze circled around her room, the sound of butterflies’ wings. Shannah’s wide smiled said it all; her friends of old embraced her. The most miraculous of creatures’—Fairies, she had been playing with fairies since a baby.

Over the years Shannah spend many a time with different family members leaning various skills. Her Grandmother taught her the art of making clothes, jewellery and wavering, also taught her to be one of the finest herbalists on the earth. Whilst staying with her Grandparents, her Grandfather taught her how to grow food and look after animals. Her time spent with Anthony and Rachel Shannah learnt medicines and ancients languages. Shannah was able to learn knowledge that would take many people years to learn. Shannah showed a great pleasure in the time she spent travelling with Indiana and her father, like the time in Stonehenge. Sitting in the front of the car with her father.

Turning towards Indiana Shannah asked. Why don’t you drive?

Simon laughed, adding. Yes, why didn’t learn to drive.

I don’t like cars they move to fast, Indiana answered half joking.

The rest of the journey was fall of laughing and joking, they stopped twice for food and a rest. When the journey came to an end they found a nice bed and breakfast, after an hours rest Indiana and Shannah travelled to Stonehenge. They spent the next two days alone together whilst Indiana taught Shannah the history of Stonehenge and how to use the magic of the ancients.

"This was the meeting place of the Celts, your people, the clan’s of the lands could meet together and the nephilim or other Demons wouldn’t be able to enter the scared circle, this is why many stone circles are built around the lands. Stonehenge was more than a meeting place of mankind, but a meeting place of Gods’ and mankind so they could talk. Until now mankind had lost the knowledge of the power these stone’s hold.

    Why, Shannah asked.

You will know soon, now listen to what I tell you, Indiana said.

Your bloodline descends from the water Goddess, you have the power to use the earth’s magic, this is what I am to teach you here today. One day you will teach others.

I feel funny, like a burning tingling all over my body, my soul feel alive.

Good, use this, take the magic into your soul. This is a healing magic, a magic given to mankind by the Gods’. Now close your eyes, what do you see?

Shannah closed her eyes; she saw a kingdom of Fairies, of creatures’ that lived in legends living together with mankind. Before a waterfall she saw men and women dancing naked, painted blue, chanting, they were calling her to come home.

Walk into the waterfall, now what do you see.

They are still dancing there is a young warrior knelling by the river, I can’t see his face because his back is turned.

    Walk to him, Indiana requested.

Shannah walked to the young warrior, looking into the water she saw a women, the women had her face, bending down Shannah placed her hand into the water. Darkness filled the sky, an evil storm formed above in the heavens, the earth and sky as one. Souls of mankind screaming lost hopes and dreams. Evil was forming on the earth. A man with evil in his soul was taking Shannah away, the young warrior saves her and the evil is gone. Bending down together by the river the water Goddess took Shannah into the water, she was given the power of the water Goddess, her knowledge was shared with Shannah. Shannah witness the fallen Angels’ coming to the earth and how they had tried to destroy mankind since time began. They were filled with jealously and hatred of the great God children, but the great God still couldn’t find it in his heart to slay any of his children. Shannah held this knowledge in her soul, returning back to Indiana she stared up at him. Indiana held out his hand.

Travelling home Shannah slept until they returned home, it was late into the night, Simon carried Shannah into her bed as her father closed the door, Shannah reflected on her destiny. She was an old soul in the body of a child, but she was still scared. Simon and Indiana sat in the kitchen watching the sun rise.

Shannah could be the next warrior of the Gods’, not Kane. She is strong in mind and soul which is needed for what lies ahead.

The laugher of Kane and Shannah filled the room, as they entered the kitchen with Christina.

I hope you haven’t been up all night you have a lot of work today, Christina laughed.

Sitting in the back of her mother’s car all Shannah could hear were Kane’s silly awful jokes wishing she was back in bed, she felt like she had slept for days. Christina peeked in the car mirror; Shannah was so unlike Kane and the rest of the James children, not like a child but an adult playing at being a child. She was always good and very gifted, the most beautiful blue eyes hair as golden as corn not like Simon and herself with dark hair and eyes.

Mother I imagine that I am walking in the mountains there is a darkness hiding the monsters they want me to follow them, they are calling me and then I wake up.

Kane’s laughter broke the terrifying silence.

    You are mad sis.

Jumping out of the car Kane run into the school without a thought of what happened. Christina glanced at her daughter smiling she understood how she felt.

Would you like to spend the day riding with your mother?

    I would like that.

Christina made a picnic for herself and Shannah; she left a note for Simon. She enjoyed time alone with Shannah since she could walk and talk Shannah wanted learn about everything around her however at seven years old she had learnt everything mankind could teach her. Shannah could show mankind a great knowledge. Returning home Indiana had the news that Shannah may leave school. Indiana promised to teach her his knowledge. With each year that past the evil that once lived was now a story that parents told their children.

Every month Simon and his council held a meeting for the people of the earth. Indiana was the messenger of the Gods’ passing on the questions they needed to ask. Food was logged and stored in factories to be shared around the people of the earth. Mankind worked alongside each other and had everything that needed, with no envy or greed in their hearts within seven years evil was but a nightmare. The knowledge they held increase by twenty years . . .

The nephilim lost their knowledge but the Gods’ kept them save as they were still their children hoping one day that evil would leave their hearts. Some of the nephilim had been hiding on the earth, deep in the mountains of the land, a child of evil they cared for until right time for his revenge. His mother died when he was born she no family but a sister to miss her (Her sister believed she was dead not knowing of a child) these secrets hiding in the depts of the earth which even the Gods’ couldn’t see.

Indiana sat talking with the great God in the land of the Gods’, they knew what the nephilim were capable of but they had lost their knowledge not able to travel off their planet. For once the Gods’ didn’t have an answer. Evil was gone the nephilim didn’t have the knowledge, so who was ruining the good that mankind had gain. Simon felt that something was hiding and Shannah was afraid of the darkness.

Indiana cherished the time spent with Shannah, he knew in time she would be gone, teaching the knowledge of the Gods’ if she was to survive the evil that was here to destroy her. Shannah loved the stories Indiana told her about the Celts sitting for hours, she felt like she was there living among them like they
