Myiahs Rainbow Dress is based on a true story of the narrator as she provides the reader with a detail memoir of her grandmother who was once a seamstress on the Island of North Caicos.

Myiahs Rainbow Dress is the story told through the eyes of a little girl who lived in the Turks & Caicos Islands during the pivotal ending era of the Salt Industry. As she profoundly displays her national sense of pride, the reader learns about the iconic objects that each of the individual islands have to share in its uniqueness, and its historical implications that is projected through the basic tapered colours on the National Dress of the Turks & Caicos Islands.

In Myiahs Rainbow Dress, the reader is exquisitely exposed to the wider Turks & Caicos and the other various outer islands that make up the graceful archipelago of the Turks & Caicos. The narrator highlights some of the countrys iconic symbols, historic sites and features that symbolizes her dress. The story wonderfully contextualizes the splendor and beauty of the tiny Caribbean island through the jolly brilliant flamboyant colours of the Turks & Caicos Islands National Dress.

Tammarra Forbes is currently pursuing a M.S in Educati on, specializing in Children’s Literature and Reading. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Educati on. She is popularly known as a "Teacher Cheerleader" in the teaching profession within the Turks & Caicos Islands. Tammarra is also a Teacher Resource Specialist, Professional Teacher Leadership Development Planner, and Moti vati onal Conference Speaker. Tammarra believes that teaching should be meaningful, fun, and exciti ng for teachers as well as students. She also believes that each student should be equally presented with the opportunity to discover and develop the gift of reading. She also believes that it is criti cal for children to be able to see themselves in stories in multi cultural contextualizati on. In 2008 she became Turks & Caicos fi rst graduate from the Moody Bible Insti tute of Chicago, Illinois, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Educati on and Theological Studies, and is currently serving as an Elementary school teacher in the Public Schools of the Turks & Caicos Islands. Tammarra enjoys collecti ng children’s literature, and volunteering in elementary classrooms. She is a conscienti ous collector of teaching aids, resources and teacher materials. She is involved with educati onal recycling programs with other teaching professionals, between the United States and the Turks & Caicos Islands. In her spare ti me Tammarra writes and illustrates Children’s Literature in the context of her nati ve country by capturing and culti vati ng the culture of the beauti ful people and children of the exquisite Caribbean islands of Turks & Caicos.
