I was born in 1949 in San Jose, California, I was born to a German American mother and a Mexican Amercian father. But I was raised with an African American stepfather.I get my dyslexia from my mother's side of the family. And my half sisters and brothers have it too. And with my dyslexia, it was hard to be in school. Kids teased me and said I was retarded, and I got that all throughout my life. Then one day, my mind started creating stories out of my brain until I had this dream about dragons, so I started writing a story about it.

It was June first 1890, at 6:00 in the morning when he said. Spike we are going into Dry Hole Kansas, hey spike look an American Indian boy. The dog looked up. He looks about ten year’s old. Philip notices that the boy was carrying cans of food.

The boy saw a man on a wagon, the sun was up and he saw something shiny on the man’s chest a metal object, and it scared him, the boy started running so hard his face started to heat up, that’s when he stop running since the sun was blinding him, he blinked his eyes and ran to his hiding place.

Philip was hired as the new Marshal. He told himself. I was going to stop him to see what he was up to. but he had his ten year old daughter with him.

He thought Julia was asleep in the back, as he was speaking to their dog spike, talking to him about an Indian boy. Wake up Julia we are in Dry Hole Kansas. he drove through town and stopped his four horses, at the two story jail house.

She had gotten up at five a.m. to see the sunrise. Dad did you drive all night? said Julia.

No just until midnight and started at four this morning. Philip heard a man voice behind him as he turns to see a small Chinese man with a broom stick in his hand.

Hey did you just see an Indian kid? And my name is Mr. Kenneth S Yu. he said.

Yes he ran that way. I am Marshal Philip Adams. they shook hands, as he looked up at the new Marshal and put his hand behind his back to hide the broom stick.

I don’t mind him taking my food, but I would like if he would had asked me? he dropped the broom and they started laughing.

Tell you what Mr. Yu, if you don’t kill the boy or me with your broom, I will pay you for his food from now on, Mr. Yu can you tell me where there is a good place to eat? spike jumped to the ground and Philip helped Julia out of the wagon.

    Yes the Lucky Lady Saloon.

No I mean something to eat.

Miss Dorothy James is the best place to eat, go to the side door at the saloon.

    Thank you, Mr. Yu.

    Call me Kenneth.

Okay Kenneth, oh by the way I need help unloading my wagon, and can you tell me how long that kid has been taking food from you?

Mid spring about May of this year. he said as Philip was leaving.

Marshal Adams walked at an easterly direction, with his daughter to the Lucky Lady saloon, and passed an empty building and a dry cleaner a new way of cleaning clothes. A silent movie theater, a men’s and women’s clothing story, church and a school, hotel, blacksmith and stable, a bank he counted six streets long, and five blocks wide, as they went into the Lucky Lady Saloon he noticed a woman who was standing at the bar, he guessed that she was Miss Dorothy James; he saw her walk towards them.

You must be Marshal Philip Adams and his daughter Julia?

Yes we are; you have to be Miss Dorothy James?

Yes I am. What do you two want for breakfast?

I will have ham and eggs with hash browns. Julia said.

I will have bacon and eggs with white toast.

Anything to drink? asked Miss Dorothy.

    Coffee for me. he said.

    Milk she said.

He saw her walk away from them and disappeared into an open door. Marshal Adams looked the place over and saw a door and wall that split the bar from the restaurant.

Dad she looks young for a saloon keeper. she said.

    She may have inherited.

As they talked on, the door reopened and she came out. Hear is your breakfast Miss Dorothy said.

    Thank you. Philip said.

    Thank you.

If you two need anything else give me a call. Miss Dorothy turned to leave and turn back to them I inherited it from my mother who won it from the last owner that is way it is called The Luck Lady Saloon.

As she entered the kitchen Did you see our new Marshal, he looks hot. Mrs. Bethany Roberts said.

Yes he does, I think he is married, Marshal Adams has a daughter I think that mean a wife. Miss. April Jones said.

If Marshal Adams is married then where is his wife? said Miss Dorothy.

She stayed in New York. Miss April Jones said.

I need to go and see if they want something. said Miss Dorothy.

The door opened and Marshal Adams saw two more young women looking that him, as she came out and laid down a piece of paper.

    Do you want anything more?

    Not for me.

    Julia. she asked.

    No I am fine.

    Is that my check?

Yes, but if you don’t mind, you can pay us at the end of the month when you get paid.

Okay Miss Dorothy my daughter will see you three times a day; I will see you two times a day until school starts then she will see you twice a day. he look at her face.

Is that when your wife will be here? Miss Dorothy saw two sad faces.

No Miss Dorothy my wife died when Julia was five years old.

I am so sorry I did not know.

Don’t be Miss Dorothy it’s been a long time.

"Marshal Adams I need help here two times a day, if you don’t mind Julia can work for me, two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening, and
