    Dedication

    Dedicated to that first kiss.

    One especially stands out.

I was driving, she was next to me.

    We were lost.

    I didn’t follow directions.

    Turning down a side road.

Pulled over to collect my wits.

    So distracted by her beauty.

So in need of her love.

    I leaned over and kissed,

Moist, soft, full lips of dreams.

    She kissed back, tongue shared.

It still sets my heart pounding.

A memory I will never forget.

A woman I shall never stop loving.

    Foreword

Poetry is a very personal form of expression. Sometimes the images of the mind can only be properly communicated in verse. I am not a student of proper structure, syncopation, or style, but I do have a need to express certain feelings, thoughts, and images in the shape of a poem.

I write what I feel and, for some people, the words deliver powerful images. The majority of the poems found in this collection draw their strength from the emotion called love. As I became an adult, I fell in love and even though the experience can be extremely painful when breaking apart, it was more than wonderful at its zenith.

I often wonder if any woman from my past has the slightest idea what power she held over me. I would have done anything for her, but as the relationship changed and sputtered, we both had to deal with disappointment, rejection, sorrow and loss. Yet there are several relationships that truly stand out, because I never wanted them to end and still refuse to say goodbye. Am I a fool? Perhaps, but I still receive the blessings of their love, though physically things changed. It was a lasting gift, even if they didn’t intend it to be that way. Writing poetry became the best way to express those feelings.

However, since many of the poems I wrote over the years were delivered as one-of-a-kind gifts and I didn’t save copies, those verses are forever lost, except to the recipient. I can only hope that occasionally someone reads the words, thereby once again giving them life.

This collection of poetry is more than just a salute to the love we once shared. It’s also a reminder that while we may have parted company, the impact lasted far longer that we might have imagined. I can say, without any hesitation, that I will still be in love the day I die. It’s just the nature of things for me.

Here then are poems dedicated to three women I fell in love with. I have never forgotten their impact on me and perhaps someday they’ll realize that the good far outweighed the bad. It is with fondest memories that I pay homage to their power and influence.

I hope you will find at least one poem in this collection that speaks to you. Each verse was written
