Chapter 1: The Society

The car stopped in front of a house and when we went inside. I was surprised, not a disappointment, just surprised. I expected to see a party similar to the one Chuck had brought me to the other day, but it was completely different. It felt more like we were going to an 18th-century gala. The house was expansive and the people were completely different. It had the atmosphere of a formal cocktail party. There was even a concierge.

When we walked into the living room, I counted at least 50 people. All the women were dressed elegantly, in expensive and sleek cocktail dresses. The men wore tuxedos. Everything felt so formal. The classical music played in the background it mingled with the sound of the low chatting of the guests. There was no indication of the risque or the sexual.

Mr. Smith introduced me to few of the guests as we walked toward the other side of the room. He introduced me as the future Mrs. Smith, which received many warm congratulations. I enjoyed playing this role. Mr. Smith was very excited to be at the party. I didn’t understand why the party would excite him like it did. He was no stranger to wealth and grandeur. He had a few houses and a club. He was a very wealthy person and he could organize a party like this any time he wanted. This all made his excitement seem very strange to me. When we finding a seat at the bar on the other side of the room, I asked him why he was acting so excited. He looked at me and replied:

It’s… a long story, but to put it plainly, I am interested because I’ve never attended one of this society’s parties, He made a pause, looked at me and smile before he continued.

This society is very exclusive. All of the members here are very wealthy people, and they are very careful about keeping their private lives private. Hence the exclusivity of these parties. To be part of this society, you must know all of the society leaders, you need to be rich, and connected to their businesses and their normal lives. The leaders of the society created special rules for who can join and for which couple can organize a party.

Who are the leaders of the society? I interrupted him.

They are comprised of seven couples … I will introduce you to all of them in a minute…

You know all of them, you are rich, and look like that maybe you are connected to their business. Why you are not part of this society already, if you really are that interested in it? I interrupted him again. 

Again, It’s is a long story, but you’re right, I am wealthy and everyone knows me … and I was actually involved in the founding of this society.

I looked at him with a very surprised look on my face:

Wow, you are one of the founders, but you are not part of the society anymore what happened?

He smiled at me again and continued.

We were best friends with Mr. Nick. Everything started as a stupid game, or I can say as competition about who was a better lover and who could seduce more girls. We had a place on an exotic island and we organized all the crazy parties there. It was a wild time but a few years later I had a fight with Mr. Nick and he convinced all of the other leaders to create rules and restrictions against me.

I was very interested in what had actually happened, so I continued asking questions.

The feud was about the girls or about the business?

A bit of both… I think. He smiled.
