About this ebook
July, 1945.
Soldiers are coming home from the war...and monsters come with them.
THE REDEEMER
Rosie wants to keep her job as a riveter, even with her boyfriend returning from World War II. But there's defying convention, and then there's executing a demon on the factory floor. Rosie is ready to roll with the demon-slaying power awakened inside her—if she can figure out how to make it work on command.
THE HUNTER
Crippled by monsters in wartime Europe, Hank is home and searching for evidence of a demonic insurgence in Detroit—or better yet, a Redeemer, one of the rare women capable of freeing demons from their torment. Rosie could be his ticket to proving himself...if she would just play along.
THE CATCH
Rosie can't fight. Hank won't talk. But the demons are coming for them, so they'd better learn to work together—and avoid getting arrested as the bodies pile up. Unfortunately, Rosie's already on the police radar, and Hank has a few hometown secrets that could end up killing their investigation before it begins.
Not to mention killing Hank and Rosie, too….

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5C.E. Murphy is one of my favorite authors, so when she ran a Kickstarter about a Rosie the Riveter meets Buffy book, I had to pitch in. I’m so glad I did. The book proved to be cozy and fun. Rosie abounds in gumption, but the whole cast is great, especially Jean. The 1945 setting is fantastic and real, complete with grating sexism; I practically cackled with joy a few times when Rosie defied the many people who tried to keep her down.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/52.5/3 stars. Things I did like: the Rosie the Riveter concept; that she was actually named Rosie; Jean, everything about Jean; the "we can do it" attitude.
Things I did not like: Rosie's absolute ignorance of things outside her normal way of thinking--she's okay with the supernatural but can't figure out lesbians exist. I also loathed her referring to "the Negro girls" and none of those girls appearing as people with agency in the story. I assume there's something here about "the times" but we don't live in those times now and, also, again, supernatural.
Note: I participated in the crowdfunding for this book. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While I've marked it was not in my library, I do have a copy, somewhere. I am a friend of the author and I have to admit that I read it over two nights, missing out on sleep to finish it.I've seen several reviews that describe it as Buffy the Vampire Slyaer meets Rosie the Riveter. I have to agree that this is largely what this is about. Rosie wants to remain a riveter but her boyfriend is coming back from the war, along with all his compatriots and they want to go back to their jobs and all the women workers are expected to step aside. Then a strange series of occurances mean that she kills a demon on the factory floor and she has to work with Hank, who is part of a group who hunt the demons. When he was in Europe he was injured by a demon and how he can feel emotions and fears that he is corrupted by the demon. Hank has to guide her to how to fight and also has to try to find a path for herself.I really enjoyed the characters and Rosie has a great line in snark and really stands up for her friends and what they want, even if she is blind to the nature of the relationship between Jean and Ruby. The cover does capture a lot of what this book is about. I really want more of her adventures...
