It doesn't take long before he begins finding signs that this hospital is more than it seems and when he's thrust into the role of caretaker things take on a brand new twist. John follows a maze of life and death to answer his burning question of where he is. The result throws him into a whirlwind of problems and leads to an unimaginable fate for the confused prisoner.

I am a writer of horror and psychological thriller short stories, having done so for the last decade or so. From that passion for scary and unsettling tales came my drive to create Surefire Stories which is my motivation to create solid reading material for those interested in the same genre that I enjoy. I try to bring a new and creative style for readers who aren't looking for a two chapter description of a character, but instead want to have a story that is always sending them in different directions. My stories can be gruesome, but for me and other readers of horror it's a staple to the entertainment value I hope to bring. I am a very open person to feedback as I'm always looking for ways to improve my writing styles. While I have a lot of inspirations to my writing when it comes to other authors, I really enjoy the quick thrills of a short story. Many of my writings are inspired from shows like the Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits, but with a much less TV-friendly approach. The story that really jump started my interest in writing these types of literary works is one by Shirley Jackson titled "The Lottery". For those who haven't read it I suggest doing so if you are curious what my writing styles include.

Beep.........beep........beep.......beep........beep.........beep.......beep. A groggy set of eyelids pulled themselves apart slowly as the electronic sounds continued their cadence, echoing within the small room. Beep.......beep.......beep.......beep. The eyelids took a few flutters to the soft light beaming down upon them before making a consistent effort to stay open. The blue pupils hidden behind their thin curtains glanced left and right across the blank ceiling before being brought forward to an upright position by their owner.
Beep.......beep.......beep.......beep........beep.......beep. The eyes took a better account of the world around them as two hands rubbed them into perspective. The surroundings were fairly clear to be some sort of medical bedroom which was an almost instant conclusion after an observation of the source of the electronic beeping. A quick look from the machine showed a cord traveling up the arm of the upright individual. Removing the cord resulted in silence and relief for the pair of ears ready anytime for it to end its troublesome sound.
Pulling a sheet away from the bed exposed legs which seemed functional as they turned toward the edge of the adjustable mattress and onto the cold-unwelcoming floor. The legs stumbled a bit as they did their best to carry the rest of the fleshy frame into a small adjoining washroom. A switch brought on brighter lights than in the previous quarters. A mirror was placed high enough that a face could be seen staring back at the now curious individual.
A middle-aged Caucasian male face stared back in the artificial light and did it's best gathering what it could from this unexpected new world.
What........who.......what the fuck is going on,
the man whispered to his reflection. His head felt cloudy and unsure of what was the reason for his troublesome memory. Silence remained, he continued his conversation in his head. Who am I and Is this a dream swirled within thoughts as he tried to put the pieces back together of how he got to where he was. An intense pressure from his bladder broke his thought process and he felt the need to relieve himself immediately upon the sensation's arrival.
The flush of the toilet was loud, and felt like a bullhorn next to his ears. The following strides exiting the bathroom and into the room he woke up in. The bed, which seemed medical in nature, familiar, sat in the middle of the room perpendicular to a nearby wall. Next to it
